Tricks of the trade

Hi Everyone. My name is Paula and I'm a very new member. I only joined up yesterday. I have already introduced myself and mentioned that the only scrapbboking I've done to date is with physical resources so the digital world is new to me. I have some ideas on what to do but to make sure I'm on the right track, I was wondering if someone could tell me some tricks that I may not know to making a more beautiful and affective page please? My scrapbooking skills are very basic and while I know some of the best pages are basic, it's always handy to know some tricks of the trade.
Thanks everyone. Have a great day. smiley

Hum.... I almost liked some photoshop tutorials when I realise I don´t know what program are you using or planning to use! This is one of the reasons to complete your profile, lol. The other one is that if you don´t furfill the profile expectations your messages can be deleted. Please, take a look on them, and, after that, come back on this topic and tell us what programs we are going to use, so we can help you with a couple of hints.

I agree with Lorien: knowing what kind of program you use would help know what kind of tips to offer.

My first broad-stroke tip is one I actually also learned from an interior decorator: groupings of 3 or 5 are visually pleasing. I'm not sure why other than they strike the eye as balanced. Here is a blog post about "visual triangles" that I use as a foundation for when I'm feeling scrapper's block.

The Visual Triangle

The #1 piece of advice I'd have though is the same as Nike's: Just Do It! smiley I had Photoshop Elements for years but was so intimidated by it, so I avoided it. I finally decided to give digital scrapbooking a real chance last June, and I'm so glad. I just found some tutorials that helped me do exactly what I wanted; and then if I wanted to stray from the tutorial, I decided to just hit some buttons in PSE and see what happened. I recently came across a PDF manual by The DailyDigi , and I wish I'd seen it last June! It's a great overview.

Thanks for your feedback ladies. There's a problem with our computer at the moment so I don't have a photo but will get to that when everything's okay again.
Thanks again and have a great day. smiley
