Images not showing

Is anyone else not seeing any images on the homepage?
I've cleared out my history, cookies, everything, but I haven't seen any recent uploads or popular items in days.
Marisa/Jordan, I'm going to email you a screenshot rather than upload it somewhere.
Thanks!

For the past few days, I haven't seen any images, either. (I'm using IE10.) I had this problem for a while, then everything was okay, and now it's back again - not sure why. I'm getting no images whatsoever - just words.

I have the same problem! Does anyone know, how it can be fixed?

Ya, me too. I can't see anything on the homepage either. It has been about three days now for me?

Hm... are you all using Internet Explorer? This seems to be an issue with Internet Explorer having to do with a performance optimization that I implemented a couple of days ago.

For now I've disabled the optimization, and you should be seeing images on the home page again.

Yup, it works again.

Ya, I can see the home page now. And yes I am using IE ver.10

Well....short lived. Now I can't see anything again? smiley

Sorry, Lisa... still doing some experimenting and troubleshooting with regards to this problem...

Just so you know, I'm not seeing any images anywhere on the site. I use Opera 12.16...

Thanks for the report, Cat: I'll look into this.

Yes - same for me. It worked again briefly, but now I can't see any images again. (Using IE10)

I had images on Wednesday but now no images on any page - I'm using a mac and firefox

Just wondering if there was any word on when we will see pictures? Its our Thanksgiving long weekend here and I was hoping to spend some time browsing and spending some of my credits but I can't see what I'm buying. smiley

Can you please all let me know what operating system and web browser you are using (some of you have already provided one or the other).

I've just tried all the major browsers on multiple computers, and am not having a problem seeing images. This is most likely an issue with your browser cache (because of a change I made to the site recently), or possibly an outdated browser.

Please try the following:

  1. Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser. Visit this page to see if you are using the latest version. If not, download and install the latest version.
  2. Try completely emptying your browser cache. Please see this article for instructions on how to do that for your particular browser. Make sure you empty everything, and not just the recent cache.

If you try both of those, and you still aren't seeing any images, try using a different browser temporarily, just to see if that solves the problem or not (which will help with the troubleshooting).

Let me know if any of those ideas work.

Well, I did try everything you had suggested. I've had to install a different web browser, which I'm not particularly happy about. I really like the one I've been using (Opera 12.16 - which is the latest version for this "build" for a lack of better description) and have been using Opera for about 8 or 9 years. The "new" Opera (new build is version 17) is too much like Chrome - which I loathe - but I can now see the images on the site. I don't have this problem with any of the other sites I go to though using Opera 12.16.

Forgot to add that I'm running Windows Vista 64bit.

I got excited for a minute and thought installing the other browser had fixed my problem. I came back to Opera to do something and I could see all the images. I shut things down to take my dog for a walk and when I started up again, the images were gone. I've tried to repeat what I had, but I can't get the images to show up again in Opera. I hope things get sorted out and I'm able to see the images with Opera soon. I really don't like having to use different browsers for different websites... smiley

Hi -

I have the Windows 7 operating system, and IE10 for my browser. When I try Firefox, I'm able to view all of the graphics with no trouble, but they don't show on IE10. This is exactly what I went through a little while ago, and then everything was fine until a few days ago. I don't understand what happened. If IE10 was the problem, why was it fixed and working well until recently? I'm not fond of the idea of having to use a different browser just to view your site, either. :o\

I'm a bit mystified now... I was using IE9 to do something, and thought I'd take a peek here and all the images were showing. So I opened up Opera, and all the images are showing again. I afraid now to close Opera in case I lose the images again. smiley I uninstalled the other browsers I was testing, so we'll see what happens when I start up Opera again...

ETA: Well, the images were very short lived. The images wouldn't display when I started up Opera again. Its strange that the images didn't show up in IE9 the other day (or was it yesterday??) and now the do.

I'm stumped...

So sorry that things still aren't working: Computers are fickle things smiley .

Did you both try fully clearing your browser caches? (how to) Unfortunately I've tested the site in Opera (latest version) and IE 10 on multiple computers, and haven't been able to reproduce this problem. Can you both try visiting http://imgur.com/ , and let me know if you see images on that site, specifically?

@Cat: I love the Opera browser, and respect your decision to use it. Using an outdated version of a web browser can lead to all kinds of security vulnerabilities, though (and technological incompatibilities), so I would definitely recommend using the latest version. Otherwise I would try uninstalling and re-installing the version you currently use if clearing the cache doesn't solve the problem. Other than that, I'm not sure what to suggest besides reformatting your computer, which is probably not a realistic option. It's possible that Opera 12 is simply incompatible with some of the javascript that has been added to our site recently -- older browsers simply become outdated with time smiley

@Cathy: if clearing your cache doesn't work, you can try running Microsoft FixIT, which will reset IE 10 to factory default settings (but beware of any settings that you will lose). You could also try downloading the preview build of Internet Explorer 11 from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-11-release-preview

I'm terribly sorry for the trouble smiley

Hi -

I was gone all day yesterday, so I didn't do anything, but all of the images are showing up now - yay! Did you do anything???

@Cathy: great! I didn't do anything on this end, but it's possible that your browser cache got cleared automatically (it clears out over time), and that that solved the problem.

I cleared my cache a couple times and haven't had any luck with getting the images to show up again. Its funny that they show randomly/intermittently. I don't know if it was something from the other browsers I had installed that made a difference, but I can't seem to repeat it. I did go to the imgur.com website and can see all the images.

@Cat: really sorry that the images still aren't showing up. Upon further investigation, this does seem to be a compatibility issue with the older version of Opera that you are using: I tried installing Opera 12, and was able to reproduce the problem. Unfortunately I have not yet found a solution for that particular version of Opera.

That's ok Jordan - I'm not complaining, I'm just curious. If something with computers doesn't work right, I like to dig around until I can find out what the problem is and try to fix it. I'm kinda a geek like that. smiley

I think this is similar to the original problem in this topic. I can't see some of photos in the gallery. I am using Chrome Newest Version (30) and I have Windows 7. I have cleared my cache. Here is a screen capture of what I am talking about. If I click on the title it will open up and I can see so it is no biggie but wanted you to know. I think I have included everything you need. If not I am sorry and please let me know what else you need. Thanks for all that you do and sorry I am adding more.

11/3 A New Day and it is working ok so far today but I tried a couple of things and nothing helped and just to let you know and others I finally just shut my computer down and when it restarted everything was good!!! Sorry I bothered you.

@Brenda: the problem you were seeing should be fixed now. If you are still seeing broken thumbnails in the gallery, try clearing your browser cache.
