About Me
I'm a 65 year old living in Toronto Canada. I started paper scrapping in the 1990s & switched to digital in the early 2000s.
I've been happily married for 35 years with 2 adult children. We have a married adult daughter & a late son. (He had multiple severe disabilities - nonverbal autism, severe intellectual disability, atypical bipolar disorder, epilepsy and was a XYY male. We lost him 5 years ago at age 25 to SUDEP - Sudden Death in EPilepsy). I consider him my greatest teacher. Graham's photo and memorial page are here: https://www.autismbrainnet.org/donor/graham-brown/ (The same photo and tribute are also on the North American SUDEP Registry Our Stories page which he shares with others. Graham's donation was a joint donation to both sets of researchers.)
I'm retired but originally a children's librarian (public library) and then a supply (substitute) teacher. My favourite classes to teach were kindergarten, grades 1-2, middle school and especially special education. I particularly liked teaching students with autism or intellectual disabilities or adhd or learning disabilities or who needed behavioural support.
My hobbies (other than digital scrapping and photography) are knitting, board gaming, reading, journaling especially bullet journals, fountain pens, listening to a wide variety of music, classic movies and foreign language films and cooking (low carb/keto now since it controls my Type 2 diabetes.) I have a big interest in history, geography and different cultures and read a lot in these areas. I mostly read nonfiction but I do enjoy science fiction and fantasy. My husband and I share our home with 3 rescue kitties.
I consider myself a beginner with scrapbook design and I am enjoying learning.

Description
By request, this series of crests is for the 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada. I've tried to pick representative scenes or famous places within each province or territory. I've tried to pick representative scenes or famous places within each province or territory,
I'm going to be uploading these crests along with more crests for Europe & the UK.
(For those who'd like to see all my designs including other travel crests and brads for different countries and cities, my designs are here: https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/anne-maclellan/designs ). I have also designed numerous Canadian elements and several papers with Canadian designs.
The various provinces from west to east are: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. (Previously I uploaded a crest with a schooner for Nova Scotia, this is an alternate design.) The 3 terrorities are: Yukon, Northwest Terrorities and Nunavut.
Here's a bit about each province and its crest (from west to east):
British Columbia "BC" is Canada's most western province and the southern coast has the mildest climate in Canada. The national railway was built to entice BC to join Canada before its creation. This crest shows the BC coastal rainforest.
Alberta has some of the most beautiful scenery in the Rockies in Canada. (Banff, Jasper and Lake Louise national parks are all located in Alberta.) It's also famous for its oil and cattle ranching. This crest shows Waterton National Parks
Saskatchewan is a mostly rural province and famous for its wheat and potash. (My mother-in-law is originally from Saskatchewan.) The crest shows a wheat field.
Manitoba is also a prairie province in its west and also part of the Canadian Shield (post glacial landscape of many lakes and rocks.) The northern town of Churchill, Manitoba is famous for its polar bears.
Ontario is Canada's most populous province, especially southern Ontario. Northern and near North Ontario is Canadian Shield country with many lakes. (This landscape is my personal favorite of mine for canoeing. I live in Ontario.)
Quebec is "La Belle Province" and largely French speaking. It is the part of Canada that has been settled the longest and was originally New France, a French colony. This crest features Quebec City, which is one of the oldest cities in North America.
New Brunswick along with Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island is one of Canada's Maritime provinces. (I have relatives in New Brunswick.) It is largely English speaking, except along the north shore. This crest shows the famous "flower pot" rock formations on the Bay of Fundy, caused by tidal erosion. The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world.
Prince Edward Island "PEI" is Canada's smallest province in both size and population. It's mostly rural and known for its potatoes grown in its iron rich red soil. PEI is also the cradle of the birth of Canada, the Fathers of Confederation met in Charlottetown to discuss the formation of Canada.
Nova Scotia is one of Canada's maritime provinces with a long coastline. (This is the alternate crest for Nova Scotia, My father is originally from Nova Scotia.) It's biggest industries have been fishing and lumber and it is famous for celtic inspired music. This crest shows the lighthouse at Peggy's Cove.
Newfoundland is Canada's newest province. It's pronounced "New-fun-land" not "New-found-land". Originally it was a separate British colony and joined Canada in 1945. Therefore not considered part of the Maritime provinces (although it is considered part of "Atlantic Canada"). It is noted for its fishing, friendly people and music. Newfoundlanders have a distinctive accent that sounds a bit like an Irish accent. Its local nickname is "The Rock".
The 3 Territories and their crests:
Canada's territories are all in the arctic. They are sparsely populated as 90% of Canadians live within 150 miles of the US border. Most Canadians have never seen the Arctic. (Sadly, I haven't myself, but hope to eventually.) Most of the people in the territories are indigenous Canadians. Much of the territories has permafrost where the soil several inches down remains frozen throughout the year and does not thaw, even in summer.
The Yukon is best known for the Klondike Gold Rush in the last 1890s. This crest shows the Tombstone Mountains.
Northwest Terrorities is the largest terrority. This crest shows an Inushuk (a rock cairn) built by people in the arctic.
Nunavut is Canada's newest territory. The people who live there are mostly Inuit. (We don't use the word "Eskimo" as it's considered offensive. Inuit is the preferred term as it means "our people".) This crest shows the mountains on Baffin Island.
