About Me
I'm a 65 year old living in Toronto Canada. I started paper scrapping in the 1990s & switched to digital in the early 2000s.
I've been happily married for 35 years with 2 adult children. We have a married adult daughter & a late son. (He had multiple severe disabilities - nonverbal autism, severe intellectual disability, atypical bipolar disorder, epilepsy and was a XYY male. We lost him 5 years ago at age 25 to SUDEP - Sudden Death in EPilepsy). I consider him my greatest teacher. Graham's photo and memorial page are here: https://www.autismbrainnet.org/donor/graham-brown/ (The same photo and tribute are also on the North American SUDEP Registry Our Stories page which he shares with others. Graham's donation was a joint donation to both sets of researchers.)
I'm retired but originally a children's librarian (public library) and then a supply (substitute) teacher. My favourite classes to teach were kindergarten, grades 1-2, middle school and especially special education. I particularly liked teaching students with autism or intellectual disabilities or adhd or learning disabilities or who needed behavioural support.
My hobbies (other than digital scrapping and photography) are knitting, board gaming, reading, journaling especially bullet journals, fountain pens, listening to a wide variety of music, classic movies and foreign language films and cooking (low carb/keto now since it controls my Type 2 diabetes.) I have a big interest in history, geography and different cultures and read a lot in these areas. I mostly read nonfiction but I do enjoy science fiction and fantasy. My husband and I share our home with 3 rescue kitties.
I consider myself a beginner with scrapbook design and I am enjoying learning.

Description
I've always been fascinated by ancient cultures so I decided to focus mostly on Egypt's ancient history for its elements (a flag flair/brad, 2 crests and 2 papers which colour match the Egypt crest.) Instead of a crest for Cairo, I decided to create one for Luxor).
(All my designs may be viewed here https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/anne-maclellan/designs).
For the crest of Egypt, I chose a design with the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx of Giza. Giza is located a short distance from the modern capital city of Cairo. These pyramids were built overlooking the ancient capital of Memphis. In ancient times, this area was not desert and closer to the Nile river. The pyramids were tombs of the pharaohs built around 2580 BC. The Sphinx is a massive limestone statue of a mythical creature. It was built about 2558-2532 BC. Different parts of the rock (like the body of lion) are softer than others and have had more disintegration. Eventually it was abandoned and drifting sand covered it up to its shoulders. Over centuries parts of it were dug out (the paws in 1400 BC and more in the 19th & 20th century). Repairs have been done since. The nose and beard are missing. It is now believed that they were broken off some time between the 3rd and 10 century AD. The story about Napoleon's soldiers shooting the nose off with cannon balls is erroneous.
