10 Myths About the Nitty-Gritty of Scrapbooking

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 07/14/2021 - 22:00

In a previous post I covered the big idea myths that may be affecting you as a scrapbooker. Today, I'm going to look at some of the smaller ideas that may be holding you back just as much as some of those bigger ideas.

Thanks to everyone who posted their ideas here! Especially Rachel who created a lot of this list.

4 Big Myths About Scrapbooking

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 07/08/2021 - 22:00

I love scrapbooking and I have a singular obsession with it. I am somewhat amazed that for the many years I've been doing it (over ten years digital scrapbooking and basically my whole life paper scrapbooking) I have not yet tired of it. In fact I think I love it even more today than I have in the past. Part of the reason for this is that in the last few years I've really been able to focus in on what I love and do more of it. What's helped me make this breakthrough was identifying certain myths that were informing what I thought I should be doing.

Our 2019 Holiday Cards

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 11/21/2019 - 06:45

(The cards featured in this post were provided free of charge by MPix for me to review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.)

I recently worked with one of my favorite print companies, MPix.com, to create our family holiday card. They have printed photo books for me in the past, which I have found to be of great quality, and I found the cards to be of a similar high standard.

I created a simple 5x7 layout in Photoshop for both the back and the front of the card, using a few graphics from my upcoming Christmas bundle (coming December 1!).

Process Video #26: Scraps Book

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 03/08/2019 - 00:00

I have a quick hybrid process video for you today in my scraps book. This is basically a traditional scrapbook, but I feel better calling it a scraps book than a scrapbook. I do a little mixed media on this one which includes glitter!

Scrapbook Flip Through: Travel Selfie Mini Album

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 01/30/2019 - 00:00

Today I'm sharing a full mini album I made using some of my favorite selfies. The mini album, like most projects I make, is a bit overfull, but that has never managed to keep me from reigning it in. To make the main base of this album I trimmed some pieces of scrapbook paper to 8.5x6.5 inches and then folded these sheets in half to make pockets 4.25x6.5 inches.

Hybrid Project: Scraps Book 2018

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 01/11/2019 - 00:11

Today I'm sharing my scraps book from 2018. As the title implies, this is just a random collection of pages that I made. I consider my yearly pocket style photo book to be my "official" documenting process, so all these hybrid projects I do are done entirely for fun and frankly not even necessarily to be saved in the long-term. They may fall apart, or fade, or I may get tired of lugging them around. But it was very freeing when I realized I didn't have to keep everything I made. I can make it, and keep it, or not! It's up to me.

Tea Time Mini Album

By Marisa Lerin Fri, 12/28/2018 - 00:00

Today I'm sharing a little mini album I made using a Silhouette Cameo cut file, which you can download here if you want to make one too! I used some of my favorite tea drinking photos, as well as some of my favorite tea themed graphics from DigitalScrapbook.com and the result is a happy time.

Process Video #8: Gratitude Journal

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 12/20/2018 - 00:00

I've started keeping a little gratitude journal where I keep little thoughts from the day, as well as little bits and pieces that get left on my craft desk. I have a quick hybrid process video for you today creating a spread in this notebook.

Process Video: Some Paper Scrapbooking

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 11/08/2018 - 00:00

I have two new videos on my YouTube channel today, have a look if you're interested in some paper scrapbooking fun!

In the first one I make a traditional scrapbook page! This seems amazing to me because I have not done any traditional scrapbooking in a very long time, but I got inspired and made an album which I call my "Scraps Book". I do whatever I feel like in there and it's a lot of fun. I talk a bit about it in the video.
