30 Days of Christmas: Day 16
The whole family is here! We celebrated yesterday morning by going out to a famous hummus/falafel place for breakfast. It's one of my favorite places to eat in Amman.
In the afternoon we decorated Christmas cookies, and then went to the Hobbit later in the evening. I read the book a long time ago, but I have to admit that my fuzzy feelings from the past are much more positive than my feelings after watching the movie. I can't remember the book well enough to know why I liked it more, just that I'm pretty sure that's the case. This morning we are having a special advent breakfast with some friends.
Today's freebie is some metal arrows from my Belgium Kit. Enjoy!

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

Thank you for another great freebie, decorating cookies looks fun.
Glad to see that the family all arrived safe and sound. Enjoy your Christmas surrounded by those you love. Thanks for the great arrows.
what a wonderful breakfast with all y'alls family!!! i'm so glad everyone has made it safely there. will they all be staying through new years? tysvm for the awesome metal arrow kit!!!
That was the same thing I was trying to convey to my 15 y.o. about the movie (vs. the book) as well. There wasn't that level of violence in The Hobbit. If there was, my 4th grade teacher never would have read the book to us in class (he used to read a few pages to us a day).
Anyhow, your Christmas cookies look very pretty! And looks like you had a nice time at that hummus/falafel place - I'm glad. =) Thank you for the pretty silver elements!
Thank you for day 16... I will not be watching that movie.
wasnt The Hobbit great!! we went to see it this afternoon. Thanks for the arrows :)
thank you for the freebie! We plan to go to Hobbit movie next Saturday - we were tooooo busy this weekend to do it.
Thanx for the silver arrows! i'm normally quite flexible when it comes to movie adaptations as i see books and movies as different art forms with different ways to tell essentially the same story. i do appreciate most of the 'extras' and alternative interpretations when they turn a book into a movie, unless they interfere with the artistic integrity or message of the book for no good reason. Haven't read or seen The Hobbit myself, but i suppose i'm one of the few who appreciated both the books and films in the Harry Potter series, though i did like the last 2 movies the best coz they actually had the time to tell the story properly and remain true to the books. =)
My boys & I saw The Hobbit at a midnight show. We really liked the movie. My boys like it more than I did...I am really a purist when books are turned into movies. I LOVED the book and would have enjoyed the movie more without all the additions. Thank you so much for today's gift. The metal arrows are awesome!
Thanks for the metal arrows!
