Process Video #56: Junk Journal

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 10/31/2019 - 00:00

In this process video I use my digital Good Life: March 2019 collection. From the collection I use one of the printable journal pages to fill the right side of the page. Trimming my photo down with some round edges, I make it fit in the circular middle area. A bit of fun layering with some of the elements from the kit finishes off the little scrap paper in the middle of the spread.

Watch Me Digital Scrapbook: Week 25 2019

By Marisa Lerin Sat, 10/26/2019 - 00:00

For this layout I start with a bunch of neutral papers from DigitalScrapbook.com. To find these I just searched “white paper” in the graphics area on DigitalScrapbook.com. Once I’ve got my papers in place, I have a few empty pockets, so I take a look at all the Journal Card kits to see if any catch my eye. I tweak the colors on one of the cards so it fits with the rest of my spread.

Using my beach themed add-on to the Good Life March 2019 Collection, I create a spread with these lighthouse photos from Pigeon Point, CA. I add some fun sequins to the plastic pocket in the middle and do some paper layering behind my photos. I finish things up with some tags.

Bundle Spotlight: Halloween

After my confession about loving Halloween, especially the color orange, I thought I'd go ahead and share some of my favorite Halloween bundles from over the years.

New Today: October 31 Halloween Bundle

By Marisa Lerin Mon, 10/21/2019 - 00:00

I have a new Halloween bundle for you today. Every year I think I don't really need to make a new Halloween bundle, and every year I end up making one. I think designing for October may secretly be my favorite. I was trying to figure out why this is and the answer I came up with was even more surprising than the fact that I secretly love Halloween so much. But I think I love using the color orange.

Watch Me Digital Scrapbook: Week 24 2019

By Marisa Lerin Sat, 10/19/2019 - 00:00

For this spread I’m using the Good Life Collection from the Digital Press. The photos from this week are bittersweet as they are our moving out photos from Santa Cruz, our home for two years.

Process Video #54: Travelers Notebook

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 10/17/2019 - 00:00

I made my own travelers notebook with pockets by taking a notebook apart and adding in some pocket pages. Then I stuck the staple back in. I used one of these pockets to make a shaker pocket with some sequins and my fuse tool in the top pocket, and put a photo in the bottom pocket. Some clustering on both sides of the notebook finish this spread off. Papers from Allison Pennington’s Awkward Collection.

Bundle Spotlight: October 2019

By Marisa Lerin Wed, 10/16/2019 - 00:00

I've been uploading kits and bundles to DigitalScrapbook.com for seven years. That means there's a lot of fun stuff, but sometimes it can be overwhelming. Here are a few of my favorites from the archive:

Some Exciting News

By Marisa Lerin Sat, 10/12/2019 - 09:09

Jordan and I are happy to announce that a baby girl will be joining our family near the beginning of March. Magnus is unclear on the situation and thinks the new pink clothes are for him. We are quite excited and grateful for this community that has supported our family for so many years and I look forward to sharing our coming journey with you all here.

Watch Me Digital Scrapbook: Week 23 2019

By Marisa Lerin Sat, 10/12/2019 - 00:00

For this spread I’m using the Wildflower Collection from Anita Designs. The bolder colors of this collection suited the outdoor and graduation photos from this week. I prove with this spread my aversion to themed bundles. Some nice graduation elements at least might have been nice, but that thought never even occurred to me. Themed collections just aren’t my thing I guess. Do you enjoy using a collection with a theme?

Process Video #53: Travelers Notebook

By Marisa Lerin Thu, 10/10/2019 - 00:00

I’m using the lovely Blue Skies Ahead Collection by Kristin Cronin-Barrow on this travelers notebook spread. Before filming I created a yellow splatter background with some acrylic paint. To make the design work, I use a little paper cluster with the photo on the right side, and a strip of black and white stripes on the left. Some beautiful flower clusters bring the two pages together.

Watch Me Digital Scrapbook: Week 19 2019

By Marisa Lerin Sat, 10/05/2019 - 00:00

We recently moved and in that move I lost the nice office space I had in our last house. Without a dedicated desk for my computer (I do still have a craft desk) I’ve given up my second monitor. This is a bit annoying for me, but probably a boon in these videos because now you can see the folder I’m dragging all my papers and elements from.

A fun paper cluster on the left side of the notebook, and after a lot of struggles with the right side I end up leaving it blank. Background paper from Allison Pennington “Today” collection.
