In Memory

A rather significant change happened recently, which I feel the need to memorialize here on the blog. When Jordan and I got married (almost seven years ago!), I received as wedding present a pair of shoes. Little did I know at the time how far and how long those shoes would take me. I am here now seven years later to put those shoes to rest.

To my Chacos...

In all weathers: sun, rain and snow.

In Asia, Europe and the Americas.

On roads, bikes, boats and more.

In air, on land and sea.

In homes near and far.

Photo Spot

Basically, anywhere I needed to go.

I wonder where the next ones will go?

I may be the newbie on the block here, but, it seems to me that you don't need to bronze them... they are already in your heart always... the travelling girl with her travelling man and her travelling shoes.... it doesn't get any better than that!!! I am already humming... those were the days, my friend... hugggzzz from Julia with a grateful heart that you have shared such amazing adventures with all of us...smooochiezzzzzz...

LOL! What a great post! Those shoes have some miles and many memories don't they? You should decommission them from wear, yes, but ... perhaps such a creative mind as yours could turn them in to permanent artwork to always remind you of those first seven years of marriage and wear those shoes took you :-)

Wow, a pair of shoes you've had that long and taken on so many adventures! I think I'd have to find a way to recycle some part of them into a key chain bobble or a little doo-dad to hang from my luggage pull or something so they could still go on future adventures :)

Fabulous!! They need their own scrapbook. May the new ones serve you just as well and may you enjoy as many happy, precious moments together!

Sad matters :( I remember you telling me last year, when I was desperate before the road trip I made that you´ve crossed continents with one pair of sandals, now I see it in pictures. Comfortable, reliable shoes that last so long is really difficult... Good look with the new ones :D

That's a lot of mileage from a pair of shoes! I have 2 pair of shoes that I got in the late 90's that are in very good condition, but they have not done your miles of travel.
Say farewell to the old shoes and Enjoy the new ones at least half as much!

With all the stories and adventures they have had, and the occasion on which you originally got them, you should have bronzed those babies :) Enjoyed reading and viewing you post. So many happy memories there. Something I never thought about, my shoes :)

Wow, These shoes really went everywhere with you :)> I used to have a pair of shoes like that. My blue reeboks! I didn't make a scrapbook page for them but it is a great idea :)

Nice sandals - I may have to check them out... I hope your next pair last just as long, Marisa! ;)

That's how I feel about my Teva sandals - have worn them everywhere, under all kinds of conditions & terrain, and yet here they are years later and they still give good support to my feet and go with just about everything (well, except for dresses, but I don't wear those a lot so no big deal). I also like that the foot bed straps are adjustable, in the event that I have swelling problems (which I have, from time to time).

:D Very good post. I feel your loss Marisa, however, they look like they could get a few more miles out of them. ;) Good luck with your new ones and here's to making memories.

I know your pain. I bought a pair of flip flops the week of my wedding. My best friend wore them during the week of the wedding because of a bout of Fifth's disease. We then shared ownership of the shoes through five pregnancies. I had to call her a few years ago to let her know they'd finally broken. It was a sad moment... Here's to new memories.
