Just Make Stuff

Is one of your goals for the new year to get organized? We have a thread in our forums dedicated to organizing digital supplies, and it's such a popular topic that we've stuck it to the top of the forum and the moderators and I are always referring people to it. What's a digital scrapbooker to do with so much stuff? For some of you Pixel Scrapper is not really helping the situation, so I'm here today to let you in on a secret and the key to my success at actually finishing layouts.

In the organizing thread you will find heaps of different systems for organizing and tagging and managing your digital stash. Each one has pros and cons, although the main con with each and every one is that it relies on one person to keep it updated, that one person being you.

You may see Pixel Scrapper as a place to get great designs, but it is really so much more than that. We have actually created for you an organized and thoroughly tagged catalog: what many digital scrapbookers dream of as their final organized solution--only you don't have to do any of the work (thanks to our amazing upload helpers and community taggers)!

It took me a little while to realize, but thanks to our subscription program, there is no reason to download things from Pixel Scrapper unless you are actually going to use them right now. I use this system too: instead of spending time organizing things on my own computer, I spend time making layouts or designing. If I want a striped paper, I search Pixel Scrapper for that. If I want something green, I search for that. If I don't know what I want I just click on the "random" filter and see what finds me. (Truth: The majority of my layouts are made using the random filter; it is one of my most favorite things at Pixel Scrapper.)

Random filter

We have over 50,000 graphics at Pixel Scrapper, and in the future we will only have more. This is a very overwhelming prospect, especially if you are trying to organize any amount of it yourself on your own hard drive space.

You may be thinking, "that's nice Marisa, but I have to pay for the subscription." Which is true, but when you consider that the price of a Pixel Scrapper subscription not only includes access to over 50,000 graphics, but also means you can spend all your time creating versus organizing, while also freeing up some hard drive space (and maybe removing your need to upgrade to a bigger hard drive for all those digital supplies), that seems like a good deal to me. Of course, I'm obviously a bit biased. :)

The main point is that at Pixel Scrapper our goal is to help you with your creative projects. Whether that's by offering easy and simple licensing, or freeing up your time and hard drive, or hosting an encouraging community, we just want you to be able to have fun making stuff. If Pixel Scrapper and our community mean something to you, the best way to honor that, besides subscribing and participating in the community, is to actually make something.

We have a great opportunity coming up in February to help you actually make stuff. Our annual Winter Layout Madness is open for goal setting and will begin the first of February. See here to set your layout goal and for more information.

Great idea! I can sure use more time scrappin' rather than organizing!

I joined Pixel Scrapper a couple of months ago, but it's only been the last couple of days that I've been able to do some scrapping... and how amazing a resource is this place! I've done three pages, and on every one of them I've been stuck for that 'certain something' - a quick search and I have exactly what I'm after! I've got almost 112GB of digital scrapbooking supplies (not sure if I should be admitting that) and still there is always just one thing missing or not quite right...

So thanks Marisa and Jordan for this amazing community and I'm super excited to get in some more scrapping time to really give Pixel Scrapper a good go!

Thanks for the reminder to keep priorities in order! After my hard drive crashed this past summer I was too bummed to start working on the pages I had lost, so I took some time to organize my digital supplies instead....and I'm still working on organizing. I think its time to start making stuff again with all these awesome supplies! And that's why I love Pixel Scrapper- i only download the pieces I LOVE and they are usually so well tagged that they are easy to find on the site and on my hard drive!

My greatest problem with scrapbooking - digital or physical - is organization. My OCD forces me to download the entire kit so that I can have the matching pieces should the need ever arise for them. What can I say -- I have it bad! I'll do my best to try your "download what you need" method, though. Does sound like a space saver, which I really need!

Great advice, Marisa. It is so difficult to stay organized with so many digital goodies cluttering up the hard drive!

I always said that, LOL. I almost never download a full kit at Pixel Scrapper, I´d rather download things only when I´ll need them...
