Victoria, Canada
In May we had a great chance to go with some friends to Victoria, Canada. I had never been to Canada, and I'd been real keen to go, so I was quite excited about this opportunity. Plus, the more I heard about Victoria, the more it sounded like my kind of place. And it was really wonderful! I'm definitely hoping to go back soon.
The drive up through Washington is quite beautiful, driving along Puget Sound and then the Olympic mountains come into view. We took the ferry from Port Angeles direct to downtown Victoria, which was quite exciting.
We visited the famous Butchart Gardens, which were quite impressive. Next time I'm staying for afternoon tea.

And we also spent a lot of time just walking around the beautiful city.
Plus we couldn't miss out on tea time! I'm always a fan of places that believe in tea time.
Jordan's highlight was probably the board game cafe we found, where we spent a fun evening trying out some new games.
And for the way home we took the ferry over to Vancouver for a quick stop before heading back to Oregon.
A very fun trip! And a great first time to Canada.

About Me
Hi There! I’m Marisa Lerin and you’ll see me around at DigitalScrapbook.com a lot. I started this site in 2010 soon after I discovered a new love in digital scrapbooking. DigitalScrapbook.com has gone through some significant changes since that time and it’s grown into this lovely community site you are seeing now. I am daily surprised by the turn of life’s events that has led me down this path. If you're new to the site, welcome! Here are a few tidbits about me that I hope will help you get to know me better!
I’m originally from Minnesota, USA, but spent a good chunk of my childhood living abroad (in Bolivia and Hong Kong). I returned to Minnesota to attend university, got married and then moved overseas again (Korea, then Jordan and 1 year of traveling). My designs are heavily influenced by these many nomadic years. I am currently back in the USA, now living in the great state of Oregon!
I have no official training for what I’m doing, since I decided very wisely (haha) to study physics in university. I am always learning new things about digital scrapbooking, and this community has been immensely helpful for that!
If I manage to stop digital scrapbooking you will probably find me watching TV, reading or baking. I also enjoy writing for the blog here at DigitalScrapbook.com where I talk about whatever happens to be catching my fancy at the moment.

@Karry: That's the game Tokaido, about traveling in Japan.
What is the board game in the picture with Jordan? I don't think I have seen it before...
looks like a lot of fun! :)
I always loved visiting Canada when I lived in Michigan, but I don't ever remember seeing a board game cafe!!! Oh man, I would have moved to Canada just for that alone, lol. I love me some good board games. Maybe I should start a board game cafe here in tropical Queensland! Could be a million dollar idea.
Ps. I just noticed your hubby, Jordan, has some sharp blue eyes! Never realized that before. It was a bit of a shock, lol.
So beautiful! I love the reflected photo of your group. Such a fun idea.
What a fun trip! And some of those photos are amazing! Love the architecture and color contrasts you caught. Have to say, though, that gazing ball was the best!
Well, well...sorry I didn't see this sooner, but this is my neck of the woods, I could have met you in Vancouver! ;) Oh well, perhaps another time when you come to Canada!
Tea at the Empress Hotel is a wonderful experience. Expensive but sooooo worth every penny! I love Victoria and Vancouver!
Wow! What a gorgeous place, I have been to Vancouver, but did not have time to visit Victoria, thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures with us, now I definitely need to go there *heart*
Your photos are always stunning- especially the perspective. Sounds like a fabulous vacation.
As always, gorgeous photos! Victoria is going on my travel wish list!
Beautiful pictures - now you make me want to visit Victoria! If you get a chance you should visit PEI sometime, Marisa (although it is on the eastern side of the continent) - I remember going to a few tea houses there & the island is absolutely lovely.
I am a Canadian living in the U.S and I visited Victoria Island lots of years ago. It was absolutely beautiful! Quite a British feel to everything. There are MANY wonderful places to visit in Canada - Lake Louise, Ottawa, central and northern Ontario, Quebec, The Maritime provinces...(my typing finger is wearing out!) There are vast beautiful, unspoiled places and Canadians are known for their friendliness and great hospitality.
Great photos! You can do a "First Trip to Canada" page for the current challenge.
Looks like you had an amazing trip! I would love to go to Canada as my Grandmother was born there, maybe one day!
My family lives in Victoria...I was up there in May as well! The weather was beautiful.
love your pictures particularly that one where you were all standing in a circle
Beautiful pictures! I've got a serious case of wanderlust now
Looks like fun!! I have only been to Canada 2 times and both times it was only Niagara Falls (which was amazing). I would love to go see more after seeing your wonderful pictures.
It looks like you had a wonderful time. We are so in love with British Columbia so much. We have lived in Vancouver for 4 months, during that time we traveled to Victoria Island and around Vancouver, and now we are thinking about moving to Bellingham, WA which is so beautiful and we can be closer to Canada. We just love the beautiful nature everywhere you look. It's just stunning.
