Where Did July Go?

Somehow, we're almost a week into August already, and I'm sort of wondering where July went. This makes it clear why it's important to take photos, since otherwise this would remain a big mystery. This is a good reminder, because often when there's a moment when I could take a photo, I often think, "I don't really need a photo, I'll remember it." I'm not sure why I think this, since I don't have a lot of evidence to support it....Despite making lots of scrapbooks for many years, I still don't feel like I do a great job of capturing moments here and there. This month I'm trying out the Photo a Day prompts from Fat Mum Slim. I'll be sharing those on Instagram if you want to join me.

Anyway, my real point is that July is gone, but I took some photos!

It was a great run. Love cheering for #USA !
▲ The truth of the matter is that I spent a lot of July at Buffalo Wild Wings watching World Cup matches.

Fresh flowers and evening light #beautifullyordinary
▲ I've discovered that perhaps one of the best things about having a garden is that you always have fresh flowers.

The pre-show #fireworks
▲ Fourth of July was way more exciting than I was prepared for, when we found ourselves in the midst of the whole town lighting off fireworks in the street.

▲ I'm not a fan of hot weather, and I've been finding the Oregon summers a bit too sunny for my taste. But they are always redeemed in the evening when the sun sets and the air gets cool. Afternoon tea has become bedtime tea.

▲ Still working with my macro lens. You'll see some fun shots in my journal cards for the Garden Party bundle.

▲ We went to the Rodeo with friends.

Arab style #lunchtime #delicious
▲ Missing our old hummus lunch, we did our best to recreate a simple Arab meal.

▲ Our roommate of one year (and Jordan's sister for a bit longer) left us to move to Kenya. Now she's neighbors with giraffes. Enjoying our last meal together in Portland.

▲ Crater Lake is ridiculous.

▲ It's just so blue.

A wonderful day at Crater Lake #nofilter

▲ A good college friend came to Oregon so we took her to see some highlights, Crater Lake and the coast.

It's time to learn a new skill #calligraphy
▲ I've just started a new hobby. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this as I improve.

Today's project #awesome #calligraphy

It seems to have been a busy month. Glad I took this moment to remember it all! Thanks for letting me share!

What a spectacular set of photos you've shared! I have serious photo envy. :-) Even if all you do is sort your photos by date, you have a better chance of remembering than if there are none at all. More than once I've had the opportunity to prove or disprove what someone says about a family event because of the pictures we took. Which makes me either the hero or the villian, depending on what they wanted the answer to be. LOL

I tried calligraphy a number of years ago and the lady told me that I would probably never learn to have the pretty open flow that most calligraphy has because I naturally have a small precise handwriting. She was right, I was never happy with my results and gave up. So go for it and enjoy!

Hobby=desired by my daughter. I've got pen for cartridges back from my high school days, but she wants old style dipping for journaling. We haven't gotten her any yet, to busy...should have done it for her birthday. I do have two pens, but no ink well at this point. Look forward to your creations!
