Things I Love Right Now: October 2016
A few things I'm loving right now:
Homemade Applesauce - I've been making a lot of applesauce lately. I like apples a lot, but often they are not as delicious as I want them to be when I bring them home from the store. Applesauce takes something that hasn't quite reached its potential and makes it even better than it could have been.
Doctor Who, I discovered, is streaming on Amazon Prime and it inspired me to start over from the beginning. I've only ever watched the series through once, so it's fun to go back and watch the episodes again now that I know a bit more what's going on.
All the Soup - Soup is the greatest thing ever and I've got two new favorite recipes. This Chicken Tortilla Soup recipe was an instant favorite; I've already made it a second time. Also, I made Italian Wedding Soup, using this recipe as a base. I'm excited to add both these to my soup rotation. Next I'll be looking for a good minestrone recipe (suggestions welcome).
Graphic Novels - Last month I mentioned how I love historical mysteries. Unfortunately, I think I read them all. So I've been looking around for something new, and I realized the library has graphic novels. I'd never read any before, as I didn't have an edevice that could handle it, but with the library I don't need one! I've read several without any real rhyme or reason to my picks, but if you have a favorite please let me know!
Paper Scrapbooking i.e. Messy Table - I am really into my current paper pocket album which covers the years we lived in Korea. I'm loving working with "real" stuff and also that I've discovered an "unused" table that I can just leave it out on. This way I can just do a little here and there without needing to make a big commitment. I'm having great success thanks to this. Also, I spend a lot of time looking at it longingly, so that's motivating as well :)
Cutting My Own Hair? I got the idea to have Jordan cut my hair because I prefer to keep it short, but that takes a lot of maintenance because it grows so fast. I'm not that keen on going to the salon to keep up with a bob. But then I got the idea that Jordan could do it, and then I thought maybe I could do it myself. Turns out you can't really cut your own bob because you can't see the back of your head, but with some help from Jordan I think we had great success. In fact I'm becoming suspicious that it may be the best hair cut I've ever had. Perhaps not the straightest, but definitely the lowest-maintenance. I usually have to blow-dry or straighten parts to keep it from going all directions, but not this time. My hair just sits on my head perfectly well-behaved. I did not expect this outcome when I started in with the scissors. Now my only concern is if I can do it again.
What are you loving this month?
New Today: Enchanting Halloween
Prepare yourselves, I went a little overboard with November's blog train theme. I made no less than four coordinating bundles, which I'll be releasing over the next couple of weeks. First up we have Enchanting Halloween.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing everyone's Halloween costumes for the year :)
