Planning a trip to the South West...

Hello darlings! smiley

So the week of March 17-21 my husband and I are on spring break, my birthday is March 22nd and we're planning our honeymoon for the same week.

We'd like to go to the South West area...like mostly Vegas area. I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had any recommendations for the area. Las Vegas is about 4 hours from Los Angeles and 4 hours from the Grand Canyon so we're going to do LA one day and the Grand Canyon another day. Of course there's the famous strip and Lake Mead nearby that we plan on checking out as well. I just wanted to know if anyone had any friendly tips or recommendations.... ESPECIALLY restaurants to try since I'm a total foodie! smiley

Also we're driving from NH to Las Vegas so it's about 44 hours without stops so we're taking about 3 days to drive out, with stops in Chicago-area, Denver, and a few other random stops on our route out.

I think you mentioned all the places we've done! Sounds like a super fun trip! I know downtown Chicago is a lot of fun, plenty of bars/restaurants and people watching.

I haven't been to any of those places, but I spent a day in Denver this summer. The downtown is pretty nice, with a pedestrian street that's nice for strolling.

The craziest thing about driving to Denver from the east (through Nebraska) is that I kept looking for the mountains and waiting for the drive up to the "mile high city." It never came. The climb up is totally gradual and you don't see the mountains until you're basically in Denver. It was weird.

I don't know how long you will be in Denver, but this is really a must-see-at-least-once-in-your-lifetime place. The image is linked to their website if you want to check it out. It's an experience you won't ever forget! smiley My first time there was over 30 years ago. My last time there was about 10 years ago. Each and every time I've been there has been equally thrilling!

I can tell you lots of things to do but it sounds to me like you will already be pushing it to do those things in only a week..... especially since you are driving from NH and that will take most of your time.

We're leaving NH the morning of March 16th, we'll get to Vegas on the 18th/19th depending on the time. We're driving straight through, it's about 2800 miles/45 hours driving straight through (not including our pit stops every few hours/messing around in random towns and cities, etc). I should also point out that even though it's our "honeymoon", 2 of our friends are joining us on it because the 22nd we're all part of an event for Legacy X, which is what inspired this whole trip in the first place. You can find more information of Legacy X by visiting here. We also decided to alter the route a little bit and do the Grand Canyon before we get to Vegas so that'll free up more of our time during the week as we won't be doing a day trip anymore.

That sounds wonderful!
