Alphas - Opinions

Since everyone is so helpful in helping me figure stuff out, I thought I'd ask for some more opinions.

I've never been able to offer alphas before, and I'm pretty excited to be able to do so now. I am mostly wondering if you prefer to alphas grouped like this, or sold as separate colors. Any other thoughts on alphas are appreciated as well.

Basically, I could upload each alpha as it's own kit and then bundle them together, but then I wouldn't be able to bundle the alpha in with the whole kit as I've done here. Basically, we can't put a bundle in a bundle, at least not currently. So probably we have to go with one or the other.

My thinking was that alphas that are coordinated to a kit color palette I would put together because they're somewhat limited to their coloring and what they would match. Alphas that are more neutral (metals, chipboard, clear, etc) I will always put up separately since I feel like they're more useful.

I like to have both options if it's possible smiley Sometimes you may want them all, and sometimes you may just want one smiley

I, too... prefer both options. Sometimes, I may just want one or two colors or styles of the set and then there are other times, I may like them all. smiley

Well, I am not fully adjusted to the DC program you have here so I am not sure if that changes my opinion but I would say that if you have multiple alphas for the same kit that are similar in style (as with the Birds in Snow alphas) bundle them together as you have done. I kind of see them as recolored elements rather than distinct alphas.

They are lovely BTW!

Edit:

Ah ha! I knew my opinion might change. LOL! I am not at a point that I would have a bunch of DC all at once so I guess I would like to have the option to get individually also although I am hoping to have some extra $ after Christmas shopping to donate so it might not matter...

I´d do the same as you thought Marisa!

A new idea has been offered by Jordan this morning...

All this time I had been resisting having alphas as assets because I really wanted an asset to be a single item and I was hoping to avoid confusion for both people downloading and future designers. Obviously posting an alpha by individual letter would be a bit ridiculous, so I waited patiently to have kits set up so I could put up my alphas, but now I'm back to wondering if maybe we should allow a single alpha set (one color) to be an asset. Then we could technically could have a bundle in a bundle, if you follow what I'm saying:

Single Alpha --> Asset
Coordinating Alpha Set --> Kit
All the Alpha Sets + other kit stuff --> Bundle

It's not like I hadn't thought about this before, but for some reason when Jordan mentioned it this morning, I thought, "Well, duh!" So, you may be seeing that improvement at some point.

Sounds good to me! smiley

That sounds really good smiley And a very logical system smiley

When I read the last Marisa´s post I thougt "what a strange idea", because, as her, I already used to think one asset as 1 individual image. Then, I tought "How she´ll upload alphas as asset? Putting them all in 1 psd, PDF or other kind of file? Then I remembered she can use zip files. So Duh to me too... And now it makes some sense smiley

Good idea Marisa!

I like this idea, too... will you upload each color as an asset or only ONE color of it? If only one, how will you choose which color of a set?

I'll upload all the colors separately, and then they'll be available together as a kit. I think it will be all clear soon, I'm hoping to get some uploaded today if things go well...

Awesomeness!!! smiley

I think what you showed is nicer...

Actually I really love alphas so it does not really matter how they are packaged...:-)
