Maintaining layers

I am working PSE 10.
I have a template I want to use, but I want to create a double wide spread (use 2 different templates to create a 12x24 layout.
I would like to pull in complementing templates so that I ensure that elements are lined up. If I try to pull the template over it automatically flattens it. Is there a way to pull it over while maintaining the layers?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have PSE, so I don't know if this is available or not, but in PS CS6 if you go to the select menu and select all layers,( ALT+CTRL+A )you can then drag them into the new window, and that will keep all the layers separate. If you want to move them as a group you can highlight the layers you want, and then group them Layer>Group Layers. If you don't have these options in PSE, hopefully someone else will have a solution for you.

Sweet! That worked! Thank you so much.

Thank you for helping Diane!

PSE specific: You can select all your layers, then rt click on any layer in the layers window and select "duplicate layers" then it will give you the option to duplicate into the same file, into another file that is open or a new file (from the drop down menu). It will move all of the layers over exactly as they are rather than a single layer.

Thank you for the tip. You make it simple.
