Styles often seem challenging to make, but with some exploration to the layer style window, a lot of them aren't that hard to create. If you're just getting started try something simple like making a great shadow, or an outline for a sticker. If you're ready, try something a bit more challenging like a plastic or metal effect.

Anyone have an idea how to make two layer styles work on top of each other? I tried to make a shadow style to go with them, but every time I tried to apply the shadow style after the stitch, it wiped out the stitch style and only applied the shadow.
I know it's possible because I have other layer styles that work on top of each other.
How I would love to create my own styles .... elements doesn't allow you to create them although you can use them
I think you have to rasterize the first style and then apply the second...thats the only way I've been able to do it unless I go in and just manually apply all the settings for the second style like the drop shadow or inner shadow.
I know there's a way to do it without rasterizing/simplifying the layer. Mommyish has some styles that I can use that way - apply one, the go and apply another without doing anything to the layer and it keeps both styles. I'll have to do some research and see how she does it.

I made 5 different metal type styles..different from the typical silver & gold available on my blog.
This is what Adobe says about applying more than one style ...
"Layer styles are cumulative, which means that you can create a complex effect by applying multiple styles to a layer. You can apply one style from each style library per layer. You can also change a layer’s style settings to adjust the final result"
So only one style from that library .... one drop shadow, one bevel, one glitter but not two drop shadows or two bevels etc

Here is a "papered" chipboard style. Havent figured out how to apply the paper as a clipping mask to the letters and then have the style, so you have to cut out the paper first, or just apply to colored lettering or shapes.

Amanda.. I don't know if you were able to figure out how to apply another layer style without effecting the other style yet.. If not.. you just hold down shift when selecting the additional layer style.
