This week's challenge is to cut it out! If you need help getting this effect, check out this tutorial on using the inner shadow style.

I love challenges like this that focus on a technique! Thank you Marisa!

Hi! I like to participate on the challenges but I don't know where to upload my layouts to the gallery, any tips...Thanks smiley

Here's mine! I hope it qualifies, I struggled with gimp all day to create the effect...

Here's my attempt. I don't use photoshop so my shadows don't have quite the same value of awesomeness. One of these days I'm gonna make the leap. Thanks for the fun challenge.

@Ernid: You need more community points before you can apply for gallery access.

As soon as you have access to the gallery, click on your name on the top of the screen, then my profile, them, on the bottom of the left column you´ll see "designer tools". If you click this link a "upload go gallery" button appears.

@ Enid Diaz here's a link to the Uploading-layouts Tutorial. You'll need a few more community points, but asking questions that you have will get you there soon.

Also in the left column of that page there will be other links to how Pixel Scrapper works.

And Welcome!

Looks good Maja! Love your puzzle paper as well. I've been working on learning how in Gimp as well!

Here is my attempt. I did this layout a few months ago...

Here is my submission smiley

I hope I connected all the dots for entering this challenge. It was a little confusing not to have the photo appear until I posted this reply. As you can tell, this is my first try at uploading here so I hope to get better with practice.

Here's mine...

Here's my cut-out

I've used the cutouts before, but this one posed a challenge as I tried to figure out a way to make them "movable" within Gimp. I ended up creating a smaller "hidden" layer of an object above the element, used it to make two Drop Shadows for the element, then I went back and selected only the element edges and erased the rest from the drop shadow layers, and tied the shadows to the element, so that I could move the elements around. I design a layout around my photographs, and get particular about where I put items. Guess it's still hard for this perfectionist to not get so detailed and particular.

Here's my attempt at the cutout.

Here's my submission for this weeks challenge. I always love making cut-out layouts.
Because I wanted to emphasis on the cut-outs, I kept the rest of the layout relatively simple.

Here's my layout

I have admired this technique, so this challenge was just the nudge I needed to try it!

I'm so glad that this challenge was chosen. I'd never thought of using this technique but absolutely love it! Here is the gallery link to my submission.

Lovely submissions, ladies! You gave me some wonderful new ideas on how to use cut-outs!

Thanks everyone for participating! I've given you all 10 community points, and congrats to Laura for winning the random drawing...again! Don't forget to leave some love for all the layouts.
