What do you expect to see in a full kit?

I'm asking as both a scrapper and a designer. When I scrap, I mostly use paper, frames, and flowers. I'm not a terribly creative scrapper. I am curious what everyone else expects to see in a kit. Flowers, stuff to journal with, fasteners, ribbons... what else? I'm wondering what I'm missing in my layouts. smiley

I like lots of things. I think a "full" sized kit should have enough to do a good sized album without repeating the papers too much. I like lots of embellisments to choose from and because I'm starting to like the new styles of scrapbooking with clusters and ribbon. I personally don't journal a lot on my pages, but for some reason I'm obsessed with journalling cards. For mini kits, I think there should be enough to do 2 or 3 papges and a few embellishments. I read a thread about this on - I think - Stuff to Scrap. I go see if I can find the thread and point you to it. It was helpful...

Here is a thread from Stuff to Scrap, but it wasn't the one I thinking of... I can't remember what board I saw it on. What goes in a Kit

I'm guessing your kit has a theme. So elements related to that theme of course.
Sometimes the ratio is very uneven like 7 papers and 120 elements.
I hardly buy kits anymore but that would be a reason not to buy it for me.
The only kits I buy are very minimalistic.
But the ones I purchased in the beginning all were because a certain theme appealed to me. I like nature kits, a bit artsy, I like to scrap the crap of life as one of my favorite designers says. Not just the highlights, so for me good word art is essential, I rather have good word art with quotes than an alpha.

Not sure....I guess I don't try to set any expectations? I know that I tend to look for a kit with a variety of papers & elements that coordinate color-wise & scheme-wise, an alpha that works well with it, some word art (not crucial), and some journaling elements. I tend to stay away from stuff that has a lot of flowers in it or is too "girly." I like the gender neutral stuff best...

@Cat.... you made me laugh... I too am obsessed with journal cards collecting and making... and not a whole lot of journaling going on... lol

What is it about those things????

I see scatters and smears in a lot of kits... also stitches seem to be important. I am enrolled in a designer forum and the moderator there says there should be at least one banner per kit... Flairs and tags are prevalent... maybe even borders and don't forget the greenery to go with the flowers... I am bad about including greenery... that's something I am trying to be conscious of now...

Thanks for the input. Everyone likes different things, I see. I kind of expected that. smiley I guess that's what makes this hobby so much fun. smiley

smiley I think for myself, they're like ATCs. I do ATC swaps once in a while, so they're kind of like those - small and pretty.

Pretty much what Lizanne said.

I like them well-balanced, whether a full kit or a preview freebie - sometimes there's 5 papers and a zillion elements, sometimes a zillion papers with 5 elements.

Also, If I can't apply what's within to more than one idea, then it's not really helpful. Does that make sense? I try to avoid such specialized themes that I can't use parts of it somewhere else down the line.

Brads, banners, flags, and stitching and things like that are helpful; OTOH, I'd like to see something more than flowers in some of the kits I've run across on the internet. There are some days I see so many flowers I want to cry.
