Inspired by Janet's Bundle Look a Book I thought it will be fun to create an everyday life kit about books.
This challenge is to create mini kit called BOOKS - MY PASSION (well the title is still work in progress so if you have an idea for a title share it with us and we can pick our favorite one)
- create 7 papers (2 solids and 5 patterns)
- about 20 elements (7 theme oriented)
- 10 word art pieces (5 theme oriented and 5 generic)
- use a color palette of your choice
And as always if you feel inspired and want to create more papers, elements and/or word are you are welcome to do so.
Oh and if you have ideas for fun challenges please leave them in the Designer Challenges Ideas Thread so Marisa and I can use them as an inspiration.
Hey!! an unusual challenge and still unanswered!! I always love to check in unanswered threads..
I will work on it..i have some ideas..but I hope it will get noticed..This thread is abandoned from 4 months!!
I missed this one as well,
sounds like fun ,
got my thinking cap on
Ladies, I count on you
I look forward to see what you create.
I'm eagerly waiting to see what you come up with!
I've kept a book log of what I read each month for years (I read a LOT) but got behind starting last December (yes, WAY behind). I finally decided to start doing a hybrid 8.5x11 scrapbook page for each month on the computer with a list of the books, some notes on them, photos, illustrations, whatever I feel like adding. I'll print it, cut the bits out, & then paste them down on kraft paper. I did my first page yesterday (so 2014 is finally done) & am starting January 2015 as I type.
I'd love to see some simple illustrations geared for adults (me!) since most of the book things I find around the web are aimed at children. Surely I'm not the only adult who reads?! Or maybe I'm the only one who keeps a list...
Thanks Sarah..Of course you are not alone..I am a big book lover and that's why I am happy to accept this challenge..I mainly read travel stories to know the world better but love to read other books as well..
I am making two kits..One for kids and one for adults..Children kit is almost done..I will work on the adult kit soon..
Thanks so much, Sherry - that's great to hear (both that you're a reader AND that you have two kits coming)! I love all the kits for kids, because I do use those while scrapping - it's just I was rather stunned at how hard it was to find simple spot art & book-related paper & simple-but-not-cute word art that worked for grownups, especially items that can be used multiple times. Most of it seemed aimed at one-&-done pages about reading rather than an ongoing project, which is why I was guessing not many readers do book journals as digital/hybrid scrapbooks! That's me - always out of step with the crowd!
And I know I'm not alone as a reader - our entire house is "decorated" with floor to ceiling bookshelves (which is funny because my husband is a very talented artist & we have NO bare walls to hang any of his work - oops!) & everyone I know reads. Several friends are professional authors with books published by the big NYC publishing companies, a few others are writers for papers or magazines, & two others are as-yet-unpublished fiction writers. And my best friend is a long-time publicist for Random House. Hmmm - I hadn't realized *quite* how reader-&-writer-centric my life is!
Here I am done!!!
Well, I had various ideas to add in these kits, but soon I am going out of country for a vacation, so little busy with packing..
The previews don't include all the elements..FREE FOR PU/CU.

I'm so excited to have completed this challenge (though I didn't do quite as much as requested). Keep in mind, I'm a newbie and I would love input. Thanks so much for this awesome community and the opportunity to grow and learn.
You can find the files here.
Merrit, I'm sorry but I can't see your preview
You can always make more later
Is that better? I relinked with a Blogger link versus Dropbox.
I can see it, Merritt, & just downloaded it. I haven't unzipped it yet but I'm very much looking forward to seeing what you've done up close & personal.
