I created a pattern and saved it as (Define Pattern) grey and white color.
I then open a new window with the pattern and filled it with the color I wanted, but I can not see the pattern. What am I doing wrong?

Some things to check: Make sure you have it set to pattern and not foreground (color) up at the top. If it has transparency, put a colored layer underneath, maybe it's a white pattern on a white background? Make sure the pattern layer is on top and also that it is set to visible.

put the color in one layer, the pattern in other. The one that´s on the top must be setted to "overlay" or "soft light" blending mode, the botton one keeps setted on normal. Putting either the texture or the color on the top works, but have different results depending on what is your color. If the texture still don´t show up, duplicate the layer that´s on the top, and set the blending mode to overlay or soft light again. sometimes you need to do it three, or even four times. If it changes the color of your paper, you either try modifying levels of the texture, or brightness/contrast of the texture and/or color layers.
There´s a lot of trial and error involved, and each overlay is an overlay, each color is a color, and they work on different ways. Design is a kind of alchemy too!
