My all-time favorite vacation was 12 days in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We spent half of the time on Ocracoke Island, accessible only by ferry! The other half of the week we spent in Buxton and Nags Head on Hatteras Island! I love lighthouses so I was in my happy place. The beach on Ocracoke was pretty much deserted ... we were there "out of season" by about two weeks, so no place was crammed with tourists! It was great!

I hope I can keep up the tradition of visiting Lizard Point every time we're in Cornwall. I've seen it in glorious sunshine and torrential rain, and still love it! Here you can see the old lifeboat house, now disused.
