Items I have already dl&#039;ed not showing that I dl&#039;ed them

Hi Cindy, I checked the logs, and there is no record of you ever having downloaded Silver Metal Bracket. Approximately when did you download it? Are you certain that you didn't just download something similar? Can you find the item on your computer?

For anyone who is experiencing this issue, please follow these steps to help me troubleshoot:

If you come across more items that you are certain you have already downloaded--that are not showing the "already downloaded" message--please find the item on your computer FIRST (do not re-download from the site), and:

Right click on the file on your computer, and click on "properties" from the drop-down menu.
Take a screenshot of the properties dialog box.
Post the screenshot here.
DO NOT re-download the item.

It is important for me to get an actual screenshot of the file properties, because there is a variety of data there that I need to check (including file name, file size, dates, etc.), and I need to be sure that the data is accurate (without typos, etc.): so please provide the screenshot rather than typing the data in your reply.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, and thanks for any help you can provide! I hope I can resolve this issue soon.

Yes, I'm certain it's the exact same image...entitled: marisa-lerin-silver-metal-bracket-asset-paris-embellishment-commercial-use. I don't know if this helps, but I looked under properties and this is what it says regarding dates:
Created: Monday, July 29, 2012
Modified: Monday, July 29, 2012
Accessed: Sunday, March 24, 2013

I also have duplicate downloads, at least for the following (came across some of these, there could be more):

Thanks for posting those, Cindy. That helps us know what's going on. It looks like you're dealing with some files that you downloaded from the old DigitalScrapbook.com (before October 2012). Unfortunately, there's no way for us to know what you've downloaded from the old site, so there's no way for us to mark those items as "downloaded" for you on the new site, if that makes sense.

@Jessica: can you please post the link to the item that you know that you downloaded (just so I'm sure I know the exact item)? If possible, please also post the file name of the item on your computer (should be something like marisa-lerin_3332_doily-shape-1_cu).

There was one small thing that might have been the cause of the "already downloaded" message not showing up, which I have changed, so please check again those items that you have already downloaded that were not showing the message, and see if the message is now there or not.

Jordan, I checked for the links for the following. Is there any way we can get credit for downloading twice since we did not know we had downloaded it? I'm sure there are others, but I don't have the energy to go searching through all of my files! Thanks for your help!

@Cindy: I searched through our database table of all downloads that have been made from this new site (hundreds of thousands), and there is no record of you having downloaded Silver Metal Bracket. I think you must have downloaded that bracket form the old DigitalScrapbook.com site... the file name that you give, "marisa-lerin-silver-metal-bracket-asset-paris-embellishment-commercial-use" uses the naming convention of files on the old site, not the new site. Thinking about this, I realize these dls are definitely new (dl'ed from "new" site) because the folders they are in now are all new folders created for the pixelscrapper site. If I had dl'ed a bracket in the past, it would be in my other filing system...those specific folders created long ago that hold all of my commercial use items. I looked in that folder for a bracket from Marisa and there is nothing there from her.

I know what I dl'ed because I have a folder specifically for pixelscrapper, and it has subfolders/subcategories for everything...kits, elements, paper templates, etc., all of which are further broken down by category.

Just thought you may want to know because it may be a glitch in the system.

Are you certain that you downloaded the silver bracket individually, and not as part of the Paris Elements kit?
Do you know approximately when you downloaded the bracket?

Well, I am certain that these are new downloads, and I'm finding more and more duplicates as I go along.

I didn't dl the Paris elements kit, so that's not the answer. I think I dl'ed it around the same time that I was dl'ing card game/symbol elements, whenever that was...not too long ago. Don't know if that helps! No, scratch that...it may have been a while ago.

I don't know what is going on, but I do know that when I go to dl anything, I am now checking to see if I already have it because not one element or kit is stating that it has already been dl'ed (and it has).

Oh, there is one thing I wanted to ask you, is there a way to know if you've dl'ed certain elements in a kit so that you don't purchase the kit and find you've dl'ed a bunch of items from it already?

hi i looked it up yesterday and i have downloaded alot of templates that doesn't say i've downloaded until yesterday or the day befor... i came up with the ide of hearting everything i downloaded befor the new feauture was installed and alot of thoose say i never downloaded them at all... (this was befor you desided to shorten the filenames aswell) maybe you can see the date i hearted it and that is the date i downloaded it...

Yes, Jordan, nothing is showing up as dl'ed previously. Would you give me a few pts. for today...the reason being, I dl'ed using 4 of my credits, then went & looked to see if I might have them...and of course I did. I'm finding many duplicates throughout my folders. This is very frustrating. If I could get some of my points back, I could choose something I would like for today, at least.

Sorry for the frustration. I'm going to be re-writing some of the code in the near future, and also implementing a "download history" feature, so hopefully that should alleviate some possibly connected issues.

@Cindy: I just tried logging into your account, and looking at some of the items you've downloaded... I pulled up 20 random items from your download history, spanning from yesterday to when you first joined the site, and they all had the "already downloaded" notice on them. I've gone ahead and given you some extra DC, but I think I'm going to need more input from more people on this issue.

To troubleshoot this issue further, I am going to need more HARD DATA. If you come across more items that you are certain you have already downloaded, please find the item on your computer FIRST (do not re-download from the site), and:

Now some items are showing that they were dl'ed. I don't know why or if something was fixed. I don't have time to do a screenshot now but will try to do it when I get back tonight. There is definitely something wrong. If I dl'ed any of Marisa's files years ago, I wouldn't even know what to look for to find them because I don't know what category they would be in. In addition, I may have dl'ed 5 items back then...I remember telling myself I could always go back to dl (didn't have room for any dls from anyone...until I was able to purchase add'l. EHDs.

I'm quite sure there is nothing in my newly created folder except for items from this "new" site. As far as titles being the same as they were in the past...when I unzip, I end up with one folder and a subfolder within the first one...each has a different way of titling the name of the kit. Usually, I keep the 1st folder name because it is more detailed, but sometimes I just remove the folder within and use that as the main folder and delete the other. Do you know what I'm trying to say?

For example, here is the name of the zip file and folder after I unzip: ps_marisa-lerin_13418_paper-templates-004-kit_cu
Here is the name of the folder within the first one: marisaL-paper-temps004

Please right-click on the image files on your computer (the ones you posted, marisa-lerin-texture-border-2-template-overlay-commercial-use and marisa-lerin-textured-overlay-21-template-commercial-use) and click on "properties" from the drop-down menu, then take a screenshot of the properties dialog box that comes up (I just realized this is what I should have asked you for in the first place).

Thanks for the info Jessica! That's very helpful. From what you've posted, it looks like you downloaded the file on 10 July 2012 and copied it to its current location on 5 November 2012.

As long as you haven't altered the file, the modified date will be the date that you downloaded it on. The created date changes if you copy the file from one location to another.

If you you download a file from the site and look at its file properties immediately, you'll notice that created, modified, and accessed dates will all be set to the day you downloaded the file.

So if you originally downloaded the file on 10 July 2012, then it would have been from the old site, which is why there is no download record on the new site...

Just able to get back here now...all of the "problem" links seem to be working now...at least the ones I listed here previously. I did check the properties, and you are correct about the bracket being dl'ed in 2012 (old site). If I run into this problem again, I'll post here. Thanks so much for your help. I posted about this in a different thread, but I am having the same issue. I've been lucky and only have a couple duplicates, and I've been checking for the item before I download anything. Anything I download in the last couple days, I've been hearting. I also went through and hearted some of the products I already downloaded but weren't showing up as downloaded. Perhaps you can take a look. I know the stuff I have on my hard drive is all from the new site. Anything I have from the old site is on a different drive.
