Surviving COVID -19

Gina, we've been lockdown for two weeks now. My family is blessed to be living in a place where everything is near and still open and just a few steps away from our home. Others are having trouble and all we can do is pray for them. Last week, a friends dad died at home. The hospital can't accommodate them. They are living from another city. All we can do is cry and pray in silence as we can't be with him. It was heartbreaking. His wife and kid evacuated early to another place outside the city because she is pregnant.

Please stay strong. We can't THANK YOU enough for being out there caring for all of us. Let's continue fighting. We will get through this. smiley

Thank you Sonia. In a very strange way, Knowing that we are all in this, makes me feel hopeful for all of us. That we can make it through. Stay strong and healthy too. smiley

Bina, by reading, crafting, eating and praying. There are moments of silence but most of the time, we are all positive as we dont want to invite negative energy that can affect our immune system. We need to be strong and keep on fighting. We can make it. Prayers for you and the rest of your family. Stay safe. smiley

So true, Earth is healing. Maybe when all this thing is done, Mother earth will give us time to heal as well.

Thank you Bina. I am looking forward to the challenge.

Yesterday, it was announced that our school system will not reopen until the fall. I am hoping that all states will do this and maintain social distancing until at least then.

Lynde, I got a news alert on my phone about that. smiley I dont like being number one! I understand how you feel. Yesterday I had a few rough patches. I am an introvert and can live very well with social isolation but my brain got into conspiracy theories. I had to force myself to climb out of that hole. I am an empath so I feel the environment very deeply. I have to intentionally put myself around positivity or I become depressed.. very fast. Turn off the news, watch comedies, old movies, listen to music.. and purposely focus your mind on other things.

Tracy.. I have a friend who is pregnant with her first child and to complicate things, she's having triplets. They are expected to be born within the next few weeks and possible during the peak of this pandemic.

Did yall see this viral photo? Visitors are not allowed inside hospitals so this man made a sign to say thank you. smiley smiley smiley smiley

Last night my husband was running a 99.6 fever. He already on oxygen and in a wheelchair. He is fine this morning. I never lost a night of sleep before over a low grade fever! Thanking God.

Gina,
aww tripplets, WOW. can you imagine?

Oh Robin, bless your heart. I totally understand!! The whole world's nerves are on edge right now.

Are you checking his temperature regularly?

Tracy, Sonia, Robin, Gina: blessings! Hope you are all doing good and special wishes for your pregnant friend, Gina and your husband, Robin. How are you all doing?
I made a mini here is a 100% coupon good until April 30th 2020 (Australian Eastern Standard Time) Thanks for your feedback.

Yesterday I came up with the idea of creating cards for the unsung heros, the EMS (ambulance workers). They cannot practice social distancing, they go into places not knowing what they will encounter, yet I have never heard a single complaint from them. I assume you already understand what they do and what it must be like for them right now. So if you know someone who works for the EMS, thank them. They are literally putting their health on the line to save the lives of strangers.

Fantastic looking kit Bina. I'm really loving the masks!!

Sweet kit Bina. Thank you so much.

Gina that is where I am at too. Introvert/empath/ADD. I started putting in earbuds and streaming music like I did when I was younger and worked where there were a lot of distractions. I love my solitude and silence and enjoy it usually, but now any noise startles the heck out of me and my mind races. The music does help stabilize my thoughts and lets me focus better. We do not have cable tv, almost 12 years now for me. I cannot look at the news and avoid doing so. I make my housemate use earbuds because she is obsessed with political news. I do watch the statistics chart once a day to see the world position. Anything critical need to know my daughter lets me know gently, giving just enough details to get it understood.

Thank you Gina and Sonia for the kits!

I live in North Carolina, USA. My county was one of the last to get its first case and as of yesterday, we have only 9 confirmed cases. I know one of the people personally so this has now really hit home. He's a husband and a father and has underlying health problems. Please send him some prayers and good vibes right now.

I delivered groceries to my elderly mother yesterday and we visited from 9 ft apart outside. When I left, she was near tears and my heart just broke into a million pieces. She is scared one of us will get it and she will never see us again. She is afraid she will get it and die alone. She shared with me stories of when she was growing up and had to be quarantined one summer due to an outbreak of polio. She remembers her mother bringing home a coloring book and a pack of crayons for her and her siblings to share. She also remembers a pack of balloons they had to play with. We are all so blessed with all the things we have right now to occupy our days. I know it's hard, but I hope we can all find a way to fill our days with love and peace and not this overwhelming fear that I know we all feel to our cores. I have hung tissue paper hearts in my windows for my neighbors to see and I've placed a stuffed bear in my bay window for kids that are being driven around on "bear hunts".

My son is a police officer and he reports that most people are complying with the stay in place orders at night when he is working. He says he has actually been rather bored so there is that at least! Haha! Crime is down and love for our neighbors is up! smiley

Hang in there, my new friends! Stay strong and help any way you can because we all need a sense of purpose right now. Take care!! smiley

Lynde & Robin, my heart goes to you. Being a caregiver is not easy. smiley smiley It takes tons of patience.

Ayelet, Very true. I had to go back with my old notes (I'm a psychology graduate and used to practice psychometrician and counseling) on how to cope with this trying times without losing your mind. It's difficult but we need to hang on there.

Lynde & Gina, I highly recommend to lessen reading covid-19 related post on social media and try to adjust the newsfeed setting and control which update brings positive energy. I posted this on my FB profile a week ago. I got a positive response from them and they also trying it. smiley

Heads up. I decided to keep myself sane by not reading anymore covid-19 related post here. I will snooze friends who keep on reminding how to properly wash hands, those who count infected and dead (this numbers represent people and families and I don't like to see how you keep on updating as if they are just numbers), etc. By this time, we already know that. Seeing those kind of post again and again makes one anxious. I will not send private message or post anything related to covid-19 from now on as well. I adjusted my newsfeed setting and control which update I want to read. All you will see from my profile are the following: scrapbook projects, books I read/listen to, food we eat, dog photos, kitchen & home tips & tricks. I am not denying the fact, instead I'm adjusting my life with our "new normal". I just want to be sane during this difficult times. happy Sunday everyone.

Robin, Gina. Sonia & Bina
, Thank you so much for the kits and word art.

Gina, Triplets? Oh my. sending prayers for your friend. I found out two days ago, that a family friend is also pregnant. Now I got 3 people in my life who gives me hope. smiley yes, it was heartbreaking and yet it put a little smile on your face. Those photos are precious.

Robin, how's your hubby now? Sending virtual hugs to you and a prayer.

Beverly, sending prayers for your friend. Yes, Crime is really down. We've been lockdown for two weeks now and as of today, zero crime.

To all our heros, Thank you so much. smiley smiley smiley

Yes, Ma'am. smiley
Stay safe, y'all. smiley

Bina, I wanted to ask how your cousin and the family are doing as I have them in prayers?

smiley Lynde: How are you doing, Lynde? That is so lovely of you! The family is waiting to be drive thru tested. My cousin seems to be having a mild course of Corona thus far. She is receiving treatment at home and is being monitored. She is in absolute panic to be hospitalized which is understandable. She is drinking honey by the galons and lives of Vitamin C basically and chicken soup. Many thanks for your prayers, we can feel them! smiley smiley smiley

Mu husband is better now. Thank you.

Gina, Terrific idea!

@ Bina, I totally understand. I have always had my facebook feed set in such a way as to not see individuals' posts. I follow a few businesses/organizations/churches but no individual people.

What a crazy time! I never thought when I scheduled all my stuff for maternity leave, that the rest of the world would end up joining me in staying home. Things here in Mexico are not all that different than before. For most people here not working means not eating, so it's not viable for the whole country to stay home. The virus has only just started to appear here, so we'll see what comes in the next couple of weeks. We've been pretty housebound with our newborn and then potty training Magnus, making the most of the situation. We likely wouldn't have left the house much even if we wanted to.

Wishing good health and interesting things to do at home to everyone smiley

Hello,
Here in France, we have been confined since March 18, outings are regulated
I live in a lodge and therefore I don't suffer too much from these restrictions
I kept in touch with my former colleagues at the hospital and it is very complicated for them. there are not enough masks or over-blouses, the working time is extended and there is a shortage of staff
We're only just starting
A thought to all the medical staff and to all the bereaved families

Thank you for your input Marisa. I hope covid is short lived in Mexico - and in the rest of the world.

Marie, I have a few online friends in France. It is the birth place of my ancestors. I have never visited there but I do love France!! My heart is breaking for what is happening around the world.

I live in Las Vegas, besides the obvious (full strip shutdown), social distancing is causing havoc here. Our town Every non-essential business is closed. Very few things are open- medical, police, fire, gas stations, some auto garages, firearms, grocery stores and... hmmm... maybe that's it. Oh, also restaurants with drive-thru and to-go services.

Have any of you come up with a creative way to pass the time? I have been working on a school project (MA- Medical Assistant) and creating a magazine (what's the word for a very short magazine? Zine? Pamphlet? Leaflet? I dunno) with Canva and the awesome graphics from this site. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! First time using the online editor and I love it.

On a different note...
I'm someone who can see all sides of situations and understand why people think these precautions are a little excessive. However, I am immunosuppressed. If I were to catch this virus I would have very little chance of survival. With that said, I am well-informed on my medical situation and have been self quarantined since Wednesday, March 18th. Going a little stir crazy! I live with my parents and they are also staying home for my safety. Taking myself out of society is not enough. If they are out and exposed, the chance of my exposure goes up... so on and so forth. This is why I can understand those who think our country is being wicked cautious BUT that caution will potentially save my life. *Not attacking ideas, feelings or thoughts. Just giving a different point of view. I wish I didn't have to consider such things at 35.

I have always been able to see multiple sides to every situations. This is both a curse and a blessing. A curse because it makes me appear wishy washy and a blessing because I understand people.

I have to be extra careful because I work in a nursing home so if I become exposed, I potentially expose the most vulnerable.

Activities? How about make cards and/or thank you notes for the first responders, emergency room workers, etc. Create an encouraging facebook group for those immunosuppressed. Patients at nursing homes are lonely (no visitors), they would love to get mail. If you sew, make surgical masks for local nurses (there's a youtube video with instructions). Volunteer online to help teachers with projects. Tutor students (facetime, skype).

I saw on the news about a woman who is using colored paper to communicate with the outside world. She uses green paper in her window to mean I am OK, yellow means I need something or I don't feel well, and red is an emergency - send help.

I wish I could find the video that I saw of a woman playing the slot machines with toilet paper rolls. She had 3 rolls decorated and was spinning them. I thought it was genius.. but since you are from Vegas, you probably see these type videos all the time. smiley

I am setting up a classroom at my house for my grandkids (they live nearby). My daughter works from home so this will give them a place for school and allow her to get her work done while maintaining as much normalcy as possible.

New to the forums. Waving hi from at least 6 feet away. I'm from Ohio. My BFF of 14 years is in ICU on a ventilator with Covid. My BF is a pilot flying cargo to places like San Fran. My sister works in a nursing home in HR.

Same concerns everyone has. 2020 is not shaping up so well.

JOKING - My 17 year old came to my room last night and said "I did my chores can you pay me in toilet paper? I'm out in my bathroom."

Welcome to the maddening world hideout. (((Love & Prayers)))
