Photoshop 2020

Does anyone know of any good tutorials on how to make patterned paper and ephemera etc on Photoshop 2020. I was recently bought a copy and cant figure it out.

Help please

This list of DigitalScrapbook.com tutorials is an excellent place to start.

If you scroll down to Designer Secrets and Making Patterns and Papers in Photoshop, there are several different ones. Some of the tutorials are made in older versions of Photoshop, but the interface has been pretty consistent throughout the years so most of it is the same.

I have a whole section in the Tutorials table of contents about making patterns in Photoshop. What sort of ephemera are you trying to make?

Here is a YouTube video for beginner's in PSE 2020, it may help you familiarize yourself with the basic tools and what they do, which can also help with the creative process:

Photoshop Elements 2020 for Beginners

I would also browse through the styles and actions available here at PS, they are very helpful in designing elements:

I am wanting to make some vintage type items as well as a few items to go in my Phantom of the Opera journal. I am new to all this though and most of the videos I have come across is for older versions of Photoshop. I have Photoshop 2020. Would I be best trying to get hold of an older version?

Thanks for replying

Emma

Emma, is it Photoshop 2020 (paid for by subscription) or Photoshop Elements 2020 (one time ouright payment) that you have? Just to clarify so we can give you the right information! Two programs that have almost the same name, it can get confusing.

Because if it's Photoshop 2020, you should be able to follow along with tutorials of older Photoshop CS/CC editions. They have almost all of the same options and features and the buttons are mostly in the same place.

If you have Photoshop Elements 2020 then it's slightly different - you'll need Elements tutorials (like the beginner tutorial Rachel linked above).

Once we figure that out, I'm happy to hunt down some specific tutorials for you. I love googling smiley

What Trish said. Most if not all older Photoshop tutorials will work for newer versions of the program. It's the other way around that's hard (I used Creative Suite 2 up until a few months ago, and it was always a bit annoying when I'd find a tutorial using a tool or feature that was added some time after the version I had, because then I had to learn a different way to do it, but I never ran into a situation where CS2 could do something that later versions couldn't).

Its Photoshop 2020 that I have. I'll have to have a good look through. Think I'm just a little impatient
