I changed the size of the individual layer box in the layers panel (I'm still learning PS) from Lg to small and I can not figure out or find out how to change it back. I'm ready to pull my hair out. Can anyone please tell me how I undo my mistake?

I use CS6 but I think it should be same in your new program.... look to the right of the title"layers" and there should be a tiny arrow and three little lines - click on the arrow and in the pop out choose "Panel Options" .... then choose the size you want. I personally like the largest and then "layer bounds".
Once you open panel options it has thumbnail size.
