Hybrid Project: Pocket Junk Journal

I was recently asked to be a guest designer for Cocoa Daisy, and finally achieved a life-long dream of someone sending me free craft supplies. They reached out to me because they thought their August kit would particularly match my style, and they weren't wrong! It was such a delight to work with the products, and the change from my usual stash helped me to generate some new ideas, including this pocket page junk journal.

One of the categories of projects I could choose from as a guest designer was a pocket-style layout, but since I only do those digitally I thought I wouldn't be doing it. However, I found a random little folder that I bought at Office Max once upon a time and my stash of unused pocket page protectors spoke to me. I trimmed and stitched some of my old pocket page protectors into the folder and I was off and running. (See full details here on how to stitch pages together.)

My sister was coming for a visit at just the time when I needed to complete this project, so it was a perfect chance to make her a special souvenir. (See all photos of this album here.)

Here's a quick flip through of the book before I added much to it, so you can see the underlying form better:

Let me know if you have any questions about this project. Thanks for looking!

@Beatrice: I just stitched the pocket protectors into the folder. I basically used the folder as a cover for a mini junk journal.

@Marisa thanks! I read that but I thought maybe you altered it somehow.

@Beatrice: It's a folder I bought at an office store.

Wow- thanks for the details of part of your process. Did the folder you used for the outside cover come as is or did you create it somehow? I like how you do the entire years' empty books at one time.

Very cool. I may need to make one of my grandson's visits. Something he can flip through without doing damage.
