Color Tools?

So I saw a question in another post and it got me wondering...what tools do you use for your colors? I, personally, use Instant Eyedropper and just snag the hex code right off my screen then use that value in Photoshop. Never really thought about comparing it other programs to see just how accurate it was, though!

I used Adobe Kuler when it was a free online option... smiley

Thanks for the info, I also wondered what others used as well. I just always shrunk photoshop and used its eyedropper to pick up colors from the internet, but this seams easier. I just downloaded it and will have fun playing with it:) Thanks again!

I just right click, copy image, paste into either psp or pse and get the values there.

I've learned to stick with the first set of numbers I get. Once I save a color palette as jpg, different programs give me different values for the same color...

I bought Color Schemer Studio years ago when I first started designing to make my colour schemes. It has the eyedropper as well that will allow you to pick colours on your screen (outside of the program window) and will generate a colour scheme from a photo. I love the Color Schemer website for all the colour schemes. You should check it out. They have thousands of colour schemes... http://www.colorschemer.com/schemes/

ETA: I forgot to mention that Color Schemer can also export your colour palette as an .aco file for photoshop. Love that feature...

Thanks for the tip! Downloaded it and am going to play with it.

I usually copy the photo over to Photoshop and use the eyedropper there. I didn't know there were other options! Which got me to thinking, does anyone use a monitor calibration program? I'm always afraid that the colors on my screen look different than on others.

I don't use a program, and I haven't done it for quite a while because my "monitor" is actually a 32" flat screen tv, but, you can google "monitor calibration" and you will get a lot of information on how to calibrate your monitor. I use to do it on a regular basis with my old monitor because I print a lot of my digi supplies for hybrid crafts and wanted the colours on my screen to be true to what my printer was outputting.

I like to get paint swatches online at places where they sell paint. Behr, farrow and ball, even Crayola colors.

Crayola colors, thanks for the idea Kendra!

Crayola colors... yea buddy... the box of 128 colors is my favorite, fantastic idea! smiley
