@Bonnie: I think it's just a bigger drop shadow. Although it's true I don't have any tutorials on using shadows, since I don't do much with shadowing myself. But I'll see what I can do.

I would love this tutorial too, please!!

Ok. How do you go about making a style w/designs. For instance, if I wanted to make a chalky chevron style? Thank you so much!! This site is amazing!!

EDIT: Tutorial here.

I would love to know how to make wood veneer-looking elements. Thanks!

I would like to learn how to make this banner tag label shape: https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/marisa-lerin/designs/paris-banner-tag-02-asset-embellishment-polka-dots-navy-pink. We've been discussing how to make the border part of it in a forum thread, but I actually can't even make this basic shape in the first place. It's another one of those things I've tried a bunch of different ways, all of them clunky, none of them totally successful.

I make alot of digital card fronts. What do I need to do to make it look like an actual card (with a card back showing)

Hi Marisa,
I hope you are enjoying your new home in Oregon, I have lived here nearly all of my life and love it, especially the 70-75 degree spring and the fall days that are fast approaching us. smiley

I have a question that could turn into a tutorial or perhaps already has been done that I have not been able to locate. I notice that when you have a kit of papers your kits are significantly smaller than others. Do you have something special you do when you save your 300dpi kits. (Solid and patterned papers, especially) I would love to know if there is something you do to help this happen.

Thanks so much for everything you do for us all, take care.
Kristine

@Kristine: Not knowing what other people do, I can't say exactly. If the kits have the same number of papers, then it's probably either the quality level being used to save in Photoshop (see the end of this thread for more details). Or else, when I zip files I use the highest level of compression, rather than the standard that it does automatically (check the settings up you zip program).

Hi Nancy, there are some good videos on YouTube on the subject. I'm not going to go into details but, I will tell you that the basic steps are to get the back ground image you want to emboss and then use the Bevels effect from the Effects panel.

Hi Marisa,

I´d like to know a bit more about this ellie:

https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/marisa-lerin/designs/inspire-bow-30-grey-black-asset-ribbon-embellishment-stitched-knot

to me, it seemed scanned/photographed and extracted. If I´m right, I´d like to know whether you scanned and photographed, and how (settings of the machine used, background used, etc. Also, your method for extracting if it´s possible smiley If I´m wrong, I´d like to know how you put the texture on the bow.

@Lorien: I actually photographed that right out of a scrapbook I made. Nothing fancy. For the extraction I think I used the eraser. I generally use either the eraser or lasso tool.

Hi, I would love to know how to make grungy word art smiley

@Marisa: Your answer made me laugh. It´s such an amazing item that I thought should be some new trick behind it. It´s very clear, sharp... best quality smiley

@Lorien: It was probably mostly luck then. Don't have a tutorial for that smiley

How do you emboss a paper? I like a polka dot paper, but want to emboss the dots.

Thank you, Marisa.

Is their any tips or requirements to becoming a digital designer?

I would absolutely love to learn how to use a sequins template, like this one:
https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/janet-scott/designs/spangles-template-01-other-embellishment-sequins-scatter

Thank you so much!

Okay I've got one. I've seen the feather templates. But how can you make the feather look like a realistic feather??? I've found lots of feather brushes but no way to turn a feather template into a more real looking feather. Thanks

Another that would help me.

How much texture to put on a paper or element. I always struggle with how much to texturize my backgrounds for kits. Also, saving the files....I see people talk about quality numbers like saving at quality 9, where is that specifically located??! Thanks

I would like to know how you make the more detailed glitters. I've been thru the glitter tutorial, but it's not the same as some that I see. This one for example, where you can see the details shapes within the glitter. Thanks. smiley

I would love to know how you make lace edging, or damask patterns, or even stitching, and or a tutorial on how you can remove the background properly of say a photographed or scanned piece of ribbon that has some chiffon or semi transparent element to it, without making it look solid once you bring it into photoshop. I don't even know if I just made sense....but I will clarify with a picture of the ribbon/edging I am talking about if you need me to lol. The one that I'd like the most is the lace or fancy scalloped edging.

I have both of your bokeh overlays. I'd love to know how to make my own with shapes - clusters of hearts, stars, etc.

Thank you
Nerissa

Any chance on having a tutorial on calibrating our monitor to our printer? I choose the most awesome blue color on the screen and it is totally different when I print it out on my printer. I have a new Epson wide format printer to print these amazing papers, but when I create a palette on screen it does not print correctly, or rather, my screen is not portraying the colors correctly.

I am interested in learning how to turn an element into a sticker.

thank you so much

I have looked through the tutorial and couldn't find one, so if you have one sorry for the duplicate request.
But do you have a tutorial for creating folded/crinkle paper like this
https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/brooke-gazarek/designs/paper-folds-006-canvas-template-folded-texture-crinkled
thanks smiley

I can't seem to get this right either. My colors printed out are no where near as vibrant as what I see on my screen.

@Tricia: You can make wrinkles in Photoshop, but the texture you've linked to is I believe just a scan of a crumpled piece of paper. FYI.
