What movies have you seen lately?

I have seen the new Star Trek and The Heat. The first one made me cry twice and the last one was so funny I laughed repeatedly through the movie!!! Benedict Cumberbatch is really great at being bad and easy to look at too. I look forward to seeing him in the roll of Kahn again. The Heat was predictable but done so well I didn't mind it. I recommend them both as good summer movies.

I can't wait to see the new Star Trek...though I should probably watch the 1st one first because I still haven't seen it! Recently I went to see Despicable Me 2 with a huge group of friends (about 20 of us) and it was hilarious! I HIGHLY recommend it...even if you don't have children!

Took my boys to see Despicable Me 2 in 3D good movie is was really funny and cute.

I'm hoping to see Despicable Me 2 also - my whole family loved the first one. I didn't find out that it was showing at the drive-in near us until the last night it was showing. smiley (they start at 8:30 pm & I was checking to see what they were showing next week at 9 pm)

@Sharilynn, yes watch the first one, too! It is so good. It also explains the alternate-timeline reality that JJ Abrams set up with this new series. It allows him to draw from the old material but also create new stories -- quite smart!

The only new-in-theaters movie I have seen lately is the 2nd Star Trek, actually! ha! We don't go to movies very often; we tend to stick to our Netflix at home. The new one was very good, I definitely got teary, too. I think Zachary Quinto is just AMAZING as the new Spock.

I finally got hubs to watch The Hunger Games, and he really liked it! smiley We had put it off, thinking we'd have him listen to the audiobook on a road trip at some point, but it just hasn't happened yet. So, we dove in, and I supplied extra commentary where necessary. He is looking forward to Catching Fire.

My daughter bribed me to go and see the latest Fast and Furious with her. I thought people were going to choke me because I couldn't help from saying "omygosh that is the stupidest thing I've ever seen," at one point during the movie. Other than spending time with her, I hated it.

Then we took the little one to go and see Despicable Me 2 (3D). I was kind of dreading it because it was an early release (the night *before* it officially opened) and I thought it would be packed, but it was really nice because there were like only 5 other groups of people in the theater. Lots of fun. smiley

Charles doesn't like going physically to the movies and it is not fun to go alone! I think the only two we have gone to see in the last 37 years were Superman and Star Wars (the first one). We also do not use Netflix. Our favorite day is Tuesday where it comes to movies because that is when the new DVD releases are sold. So instead of relying anything else, we have a DVD library of over 2000 movies! We have a great diverse selection including old movies and newer movies. And yes we watch movies in our collection more than once! I figure it this way, I would spend more for the two of us to go to the movies and this way I can rewatch whatever I want. I have all of our movies and particulars in an MS Access file (alphabetically) and they are stored on custom made shelving in alphabetical order.

So we don't necessarily see them when first released but quite frankly it usually only takes a couple or three months before they come out on DVD and in the scheme of things it isn't that long!

I know what you mean - we buy movies, too... Most of the time I only go when there's something I really really want to see on the big screen (like the LOTR movies, Narnia movies, Bond movies, etc.) - otherwise I wait & buy them on DVD or watch/record them on tv. The kids are SO desperate to see "Despicable Me" that even though I'd rather wait 'til it comes out & buy it, we're caving in & are going to take them to the cinema this week. Our cinema has a lower rate one night a week, so I hope to take them then.

I am late! We are going to the movies quite a few, because the prices went too high in the last years, plus, none of us is studying, which, in Brazil, allows people to buy tickets with 50% discount.

Last movie I saw was Merida - I found it cute. Next will possibly be despicable me 1 - We haven´t seen it yet - and, if we love it so much, we can maybe have a go to the movie theatre. I´m waiting the Star Treck release into DVD to see with my dad and bro - I´m not really into ST, but they and my hubby love it - since we couldn´t go to the fan-only session (those are always worth smiley) because we couldn´t go in the day it was.

Does it have to be new or something we just haven't seen yet? Hubby and I watched Mo' Better Blues last night! smiley

I saw the Lone Ranger. Adventure, humor and Johnny Depp. Lol smiley

This past weekend, hubby and I saw White House Down...I thought it was pretty good! How can you go wrong with Channing Tatum?!?!?!?!

I really enjoyed White House Down, The Internship, The Heat and, most especially, The Way Way Back.

We finally saw Despicable Me 2 last week. We enjoyed watching it, but it was not nearly as good as the first one (the storyline wasn't as good)...

We just watched Warm Bodies last night. I really enjoyed it, and I'm not really that keen on zombies. It was predictable in a really tremendous way, if that makes any sense.

I just watched Warm Bodies this week and I loved it. I know what you mean about it being very predictable but it was still a great movies.

I've also watched The Host...which I thought I was going to hate because I stopped reading the book after a few chapters but I really really loved the movie. I also watched the new Evil Dead which scared the crap out of me! And Hansel & Gretel which I also really enjoyed! smiley Jeremy Renner!

What about World War Z? A friend watched and said she liked it. Do you also recommend this one?

Are you asking me? World War Z looked too intense for me. I might watch it on DVD with my knitting to distract during the tense moments.

I don't go to the cinema very often. I love rewatching my favourites at home. I watched "Brave" four times last week, "Tarzan" three times, I should add I had my grand daughter each time, which excuses me a little!! I love Disney films like Brother Bear and Spirit. I love the music too!
Harry Potter is another fabulous series of films. I am not into violence, sex and swearing!!

I also got to see Despicable Me 2. @ Angela Hoynes: We don't like watching movies with sex, swearing or nudity either. That's why my hubby and I have such a big collection of "kiddie" movies. My favourite movie at the moment is Wreck It Ralph. We watch it atleast once a week. Anyone else seen it?

We saw City of Bones last week. I really enjoyed it. I had read the book before, but could hardly remember it.

Olympus Has Fallen...better than White House Down!

Finally watched Life of Pi and loved it. We are not big moviewatchers, but where we live now, we cannot get satellite and our cable company is bad. We like to recird and watch later and right now we barely can do that. So we have turned to Red Box. Lol.

We took grandson #1 to see johnny depp in Lone Ranger. Loved it!

Just watched Star Trek: Into Darkness last night and absolutely loved it. smiley

We watched The Great Gatsby last night. It was interesting. Robert Redford.... Leonardo DiCaprio.... Tough choice. It was good, but I wouldn't give it a strong recommendation, nor would I watch it again.

With 3 kids, and one a little young to sit in a theater for 2+ hours, we don't get to the theater often. The last theater movie I saw was Monsters Inc, Monster's University. I do however, watch Netflix, Amazon and hulu daily but mostly for TV shows, I'm going through Smallville right now. Oh, I did see the new Superman a few months back with my hubby and son because my 7 year old son's name is Kal-El Alexander. (Superman's name)

At the cinema it was "Now you can see me" - not the best movie.... But the company was good (workmates), dinner before very delicate and the talk over tea afterwards was very funny.
One of the TV channels showed "Not without my daughter" the other day and I couldn´t stop watching, although I´ve already seen it twice.

In theaters we saw "Instructions Not Included" smiley

Just saw Star Trek and it was great! Can't wait to see Gravity.
