Weekly Challenge - Old Layout Redo - Deadline Sept 19

Even if you've only been scrapping a little while, there's always a layout hanging around that didn't quite come out the way you hoped. This week my challenge to you is to find one of those old layouts and fix it up. It might just need a little tweak, or a huge overhaul, or something in between.

Important Details

Due Date: Sept 19, 2013, 9am (USA Pacific time)

Tag: challenge old sept 2013
Make sure you use this tag exactly, so we can browse easily through the gallery and see all the submissions, and so you can get your points. Please only tag one layout.

See basic challenge rules here.

I knew just what layout to redo this time around!

Here is the original:

I hate how that one picture at the bottom isn't the same size as the one next to it!

And here is the new layout:

I am quite happy with it now. I usually won't rescrap things unless I absolutely hate them just because I would rather spend the time making layouts with pictures that I haven't scrapped before.

Shrinking 12 X 12 to 8.5 X 11.

Awesome, Peg! I fixed your posting for you so that the image show and are linked to the gallery smiley

Marisa, can I redo that layout you redid for me? The wheels are turning on it now, haha.

@Catherine: Of course!

this one looks like fun. I going to jump into this one. I was wondering if you don't mind if we cover children's faces?

The redo:

Not sure what I did there... fixed it. had posted a ridiculously large picture

Elise, Boy what a change. How long had you been scrapping when you did the old page? I love what you did with the new page.

Thank you Judy,
That was one of my first pages about 6 or 7 years ago. I made a scrapbook for my brother's 54th birthday and had absolutely no idea what to do or how to do it, as evidenced by the page, LOL. Back then it was plop a picture on a piece of paper and call it a day. Now I scour scrapbooking sites, tutorials, pinterest, looking for inspiration and guidance. Still have plenty to learn and I am loving every minute of it!

I re-did my old LO, too. smiley

I like this- the colors work well with the girls clothing.

@Catherine: It looks wonderful!

Elise, great new page! smiley

Thanks Catherine! I like the use of color in yours and the way you brought the clustering closer to the picture. Great improvement!

Thank you!

Like it!

Wow. The redo layouts look great.
Now I am nervous. I have done exactly 3 (yep only 3) layouts. That includes one for the photo swap. So really only 2 layouts.
I'm totally petrified that people may think my layouts are not up to par yet. smiley

Relax, Kay. This is not a judgemental community. We're all just trying to support each other in our development and growth as artists and designers. Your layouts will receive only positive comments and, only if you ask for them, constructive suggestions for improvement. Besides, I'm sure your work will be great. We are all our own most severe critics.

Okay, this is not technically an old layout, not more than 48 hours anyway, but opinions are solicited.
The first one, done with Marisa's Pretty Things kit, IS very pretty and I would normally be happy with it. However I didn't feel it told the story I wanted which was that the pink leotard was not correct attire for the ballet class. So I redid the page. What do you think?

I agree with Harriett. Please post your work. And welcome to the wonderful world of digital scrapbooking where fixes do not require tape and glue smiley
Elise

I love the butterflys, but the redo really helps the pictures to stand out more. Very nice!

You couldn't keep me away from this fun and very supportive community. I have really enjoyed the short time I have been here.

Harriet-- both of those layouts are very lovely! I do understand why you "fixed" the layout. The second one does tell the story of the black vs. pink leotard much better. I would not have known all that from the first one.

Elise--Thanks for the welcome. I do love that I can fix things without having to drag out a lot of stuff and have a mess all over my craft table.
I can get out all my layout stuff and work on any project I like without making a huge mess. I can do it in my jammies at 4 am and not disturb anyone just by pulling out my laptop--plopping it on my lap in my bed (which is wear you will usually find me while doing my computer stuff) and I have complete peace and quiet and freedom to do as I choose without making a mess.

When I am done I just hit save, close a few programs and folders and I am all cleaned up. LOVE THAT PART!!!

I think I am officially hooked. And I have been a member for only a few weeks. LOL

Kay, don´t be affraid to jump in - If you still dont feel for a redo on your layouts, you can try making the same one twice at the same day - or even wait a little while to the next challenge smiley Believe me, when people criticize something here, it´s always in a kind and suportive way.

Hariett, to be really sincere with you, I don´t know which of them I like the most. The pink background, all those butterflies and the "So pretty" wordart make the first layout really adorable, But the black on the second layout makes it easy to read, and go well with the story it´s about. I also like all those circles in the background.

Harriett, they are both great. I like the ballet shoe, butterflies, word art, and the pink in the first, but the second does reflect the black leotard better with the black and white background. I also like the bright pink slipper and flower. smiley

This is one of the first digital pages I did.

Excellent work everyone!

Great colors and textures! The journaling is a nice addition. Great redo!
