Description
My mom worked as a dress maker and taught me how to sew.
Sewing holes in paper for hours til I got the hang of it. Then learning
how to guide the fabric. Step by step I learned the basics. She was always
encouraging. “You never know when you might need to know this” she
would say. I don’t know if I ever made anything more than a bag
as a child,, but I do remember feeling proud when I mastered each step.
Sewing became, a fun past time for me as an adult, and I enjoyed making
dresses for my daughter and pyjamas for the kids. Thanks Mom for
sharing your talent.

My Mom did not sew, she had a machine for mending, but did most by hand. I have a sister that is four day shy of being five years older than me. In fact, on arrival home from having me, Mom presented me to my sister as her fifth birthday present. I have been her baby ever since. She tried to teach me to sew what she had learned in school.
I took 3 years of Home Economics in high school and was in my sophomore year of college training to become a Home Economics teacher when I met Mr. Right. I quit school and joined the Air Force with him.
We have been together almost 45 years.
On to the reason I came here, I want to tell how precious I found your layout. The placement of the sewn strips and buttons are wonderful. The b/w photo framed beautifully. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
What an awesome page and such wonderful journaling! I love all the stitches and "fabrics" that you made with paper swatches.
