I don’t know how they did it, but what I did was to make a rectangle using the shape tool that extends just a tiny bit beyond the gap for the photo. I clip the photo to the shape and put both below the QP.

Just updated this tutorial to include videos for both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Both videos include using a quick page in PNG and PSD format.
