Designer Challenge - Everyday Life: MUSIC IS MY LIFE Mini Kit

If you or someone in your family likes listening to music, plays an instrument, or sings this challenge will be perfect. There are not too many music related elements here in our community so I thought for this designer challenge we will work on a kit called: MUSIC IS MY LIFE.

This challenge is to create mini kit called MUSIC IS MY LIFE

- create 7 papers (2 solids and 5 patterns)
- about 20 elements (7 theme oriented)
- 10 word art pieces (5 theme oriented and 5 generic)
- use a color palette of your choice

And as always if you feel inspired and want to create more papers, elements and/or word are you are welcome to do so.

Oh and if you have ideas for fun challenges please leave them in the Designer Challenges Ideas Thread so Marisa and I can use them as an inspiration.

Interesting! There are many ways to go with this one. I'll give it a go.

I just saw the new challenge. I love !!!
Today intense day with the renovation of my house and issues of work... smiley
hope to do so very soon.

I'm actually having a tough time on which direction to go with this one.

I had several ideas, but no time ...

I've been working on this one today. It'll probably be posted later tonight or tomorrow morning.

I went old-school rock and roll. (I miss the 80s!) I used a stainless steel guitar pick and the record to make a flower. lol

Vidia, your kit is awesome smiley I love it!

Thank you, Ania! I had a lot of fun making this kit, so thanks (again) for creating this challenge. smiley

Wonderful kit Vidia ~ my 15yr old writes his own music for the piano/keyboard and he also plays guitar so this will be a great kit for all his musical endeavors. smiley Thanks again for sharing!

Super kit Vidia!! Hope I have some time to play with this one. smiley

Wow Vidia!! That's amazing!

Wow! Thank you, everyone! I think I'm blushing. lol

@Jessica Very cool! What type of music does he write? My son used to DJ (techno, trance, dubstep); he still makes tracks, but doesn't do shows anymore now that he works long hours.

I'm waiting to see what the rest of you come up with! smiley

My son is also into techno! Course I used to listen to a lot of it myself so Im not too surprised. smiley Cool how your son was a DJ! My son really wants to be a programmer as his profession but he does love music as a hobby. He has even made an album or two of his work - more for himself than anything else. That was when he was 13 or 14.

Yep, that's how my son got into it: I listen to a lot of dance techno. Programming is good to get into, especially in today's tech-world. My son did a big outdoor summer show in upstate New York two years ago. Granted, he was one of the opening acts on the last day (a weekend concert thing), but he got a lot of exposure at the time nonetheless. My son is an auto-technician (re: mechanic) for a local Acura dealership. I haven't had to pay for any work on my car, besides parts, since he was 14. LOL

Thanks Vidia! My 9 yr. old son is a self taught musician who plays drums and electric guitar, among other things. This is great, and I am grateful!

Hello! I planned a music-related kit long ago and now I did it! Hope you like it:

I will soon post it on my blog and by the way, I will upload two layouts smiley

Sonia, your kit is gorgeous!

Sonia , that looks great , nice colours too !

Sonia your kit is awesome. I love the paper feel of te instruments. Great kit.

Thank you so much! I was insecure about this kit, so your comments for me are very appreciated!

Joyce I love the vinyl rules tag. Thanks for joining us in this challenge.

hi u are very welcome i love all of these challenges.and thank u

Would love to give this a go, as my whole career is based around music! I've never done a whole kit before though, and am a real beginner so I'll do what I can. Love whats been done so far!

Jess, start with the mini kit which is 7 papers (2 solids and 5 patterns), about 20 elements (7 theme oriented), 10 word art pieces (5 theme oriented and 5 generic).

Thanks - will do. Where / how do we put / upload the kits when finished? Should they be Png, Photoshop, or Jpeg files?
Should we create the same items in the varying colours?

Jess, When you create mini kit like this and any kit it is preferred by most that each item is unique, some designers will include color variations but this is not something practiced by most.

Papers should be .jpgs 3600x3600, 300dpi, elements, word art and journaling cards are .png files at 300 of dpi. I know there is a thread about recommended sizes for certain elements, but I can't find it right now. Maybe someone here has it saved.

When you are finished you can use one of these tools: Dropbox or google drive to upload your zip and then share the link to the download in here.

Feel free to ask any questions you have here, also look through the Digital Scrapbooking Discussion forum, there is a lot of helpful info in there as well.

I don't have the thread bookmarked that Ania mentioned, but I do keep the element size guide that was linked in that thread bookmarked... http://christinashaw.com/?p=1174

Thanks for sharing this guide with us Holly.

thanks
