Designer Challenge - Love Is In The Air Mini Kit Due 2/15

Yes, it is that time of the year so let's get cracking on the love inspired mini kit! You can use one or more of the templates we've worked for the Valentine's Day Templates Challenge.

For this mini I want you to make

  • 10 pattern papers + optional solids
  • 30 elements (20 universal and 10 themed)
  • 10 word art pieces (5 universal and 5 themed)
  • pick your own color palette for this challenge, but I encourage you to go with less traditional colors which will make your mini kit stand out from all the traditional red, white, black valentine's day kits.

If you need some inspiration check out all the love inspired kits here at DigitalScrapbook.com.

I can't wait to see what you all will create.

Thanks for the challenge! It will be fun to choose a non-traditional color palette for this challenge, hope that I will stick with it!

I already created 2 valentines kits for my stores that I work in, but I'm thinking with this kit, if I have the time, I will load it to the commons.

Hello, I am new here and I'd like to try the challenge!

I have a few questions though:
-Is it OK to use designer resources downloaded from PixelScrapper to make this kit?
-How can I share the kit with you? Do I have ask for a special access?
-Will it be ok to upload the kit even if it's smaller? 30 elements sound a bit overhelming for a newbie smiley

Thank you!

Hi Lucia!

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know it is Ok to use the designer resources as long as you make them your own by making them different. I like using the grey scale version that the designers upload. That's what I use.

You can share the kit via on this site there are directions for this over at the blog train forum. Or you can get a free Dropbox.com account and store your files there.

I'm sure it would be okay if your kit is smaller. The most important thing is that you gain experience, and most of all have fun!

@ Lucia , so glad that you are going to join this challenge. We love to see people join in the fun. There are tutorials on how to upload images to this forum, here is the link.

Here is my personal experience. I have a free account on Imgur.com, to load my previews of my kit. Then, I have a free account at Dropbox.com, to load up the files that I share with the members here. So you need to remember that you are uploading two different things here in this forum - The preview photo, and then the actual design files.

As for using PS designer items for your kit, it depends if you downloaded from "the Commons" area, or the "Graphics" area, and if you downloaded the Commercial Use (CU) version. You would be able to tell if you downloaded a CU product from the Graphics area, because those "cost" one credit. The PU ones do not cost any credit. The Terms of Use (TOU) for Commercial Use (CU) items are available to read on the "Help" page, under Licensing. The Commercial Use gives you a wide latitude for using the graphics, including adding them here to your kit.

I'm sure that you will receive additional guidance from the moderator, but I wanted to share some of the basics. Don't hesitate to ask questions!

I'm going to create a mini kit for this challenge. Picking a color palette is going to be a challenge in itself!! I'm not good at making decisions!!

Thank you Sharon and Sunny for your replies. You were really helpful! I went over PixelScrapper's PU and CU license information and since I don't plan to share the minikit outside of here, it should be ok to use some PU items from the "Graphics" section. I thought that the minikits were to be uploaded to the "Commons" area, that's why I didn't know how to do it. I'll get a Dropbox account or similar as you suggested.

I made five patterned papers already, my pallette is cream, eau de Nil, teal and a bit of red/pink for contrast. The style could be described as altered art meets Jane Austen smiley

That sounds wonderful, Lucia! I really look forward to seeing your work and interacting with you here at PS! smiley

I finally finished mine. You can download it in the COMMONS area.

Finally? That was lighting fast for such a big kit! I admire the large selection of elements, you're very creative to come up with so much stuff. The buttons with hearts are my favourite smiley

Lovely kit, Sharon. I love how it is so upbeat and happy! I always admire your bows, too!

Awwww thank you so much, Faith and Lucia! I can hardly wait to see what you two come up with. smiley

Here is my little mini, available from my Rush Ranch blog today.

Oh Faith! You outdid yourself. This is another beautiful kit. I love all the hearts, and your lace is stunning! Sweet journal note too with the little bow. That is a very nice touch. You thought of everything here. smiley

Thank you, Sharon. One of the things I am most proud of, is being able to stick to my color palette. (lol) usually I am just designing things and saying to myself "Oh, that's pretty", without thought to the working palette. I'm learning.

Thank you, Sunny, Beautiful!

Sunny, that's a beautiful colour sheme. I love the flair!

Thank you very much, its so pretty!

I love your kits, Sunny and Sharon! Thank you both!

Thank you all for the lovely feedback. It's really encouraging!

Oh Sunny and Sharon Your kits are awesome as always. I can't wait to see what the rest of you will create!

Sharon and Sunny, your kits are just fantastic!! Thank you smiley

Oh Faith! I love your color palette!
Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Ania and Sharon. I had fun creating it.

Sunny... loved the translucent lace in your mini! Thanks so much

Thanks, Poodle! I learned how to make lace right here on Pixelscrapper, via a tutorial from one of our members several years ago. This site is great for learning so many things, and everyone is so helpful.

Oh Faith!!!!! I would love to learn how to make Lace. I'll do a search, but if you have time, could you point me in the right direction? I've always wanted to make lace. Easier on the eyes rather than extrapolation.

So I finished this a few days ago but then forgot all about it. I blame the heat. And the humidity. And the fact that I've probably lost a quarter of my body weight sweating. [/end oversharing]

Anyway.

I'm not sure I met all of the requirements to the letter but life is more exciting when you bend the rules, isn't it?

Clicky, clicky!

Trish! I LOVE your sense of humor. Thank you for making me laugh.

Your kit is so adorable. I love the elements and the pretty frame, bows and flowers. So very sweet, and nice. Thank you very much! smiley

This is lovely, Trish! Thank you for putting it up for us. Sorry about the heat. Too bad we can't share each other's weather by half, to make a perfectly balanced day.
