Designer Challenge Part 2/7- Elements - Deadline Feb 24th

Last week we all worked on our Inspiration Boards. Everyone so far created amazing boards and I can't wait to see what we all create now. If you missed part one of this challenge you can see it here and join.

This week I want you to focus on creating elements to include in your kit.

Your challenge for this week:

- create 5 elements that are unique for your kit. For example since I decided to go along with California Dreamin' Mini Kit I would make elements such as surf boards, waves, flip flops, etc.
- 10 elements that are universal, such as flowers, tags, ribbons, etc.
- NO WORD ART - there will be separate challenge for that

Have fun and come back next week for part 3 of this challenge.

Super!!! I'm really looking forward to working on this (and finishing my Animal Kingdom one too! You make me work hard! *giggle* I'm not performing so well on my CT duties this month, having too much fun designing!!!) smiley

Gotta get busy!!!

Looking forward to this! smiley

Oh good, this will kick my butt into gear with getting my blog train download ready, lol!

Here are mine! (I decided to add green to the color palette smiley it fit in well)

Sarah, these are great smiley

Those are so cute!! smiley

I really like your doodles Sarah!

Wow that was truly a challenge. I was seriously thinking about giving up like 10 times. But I'm really glad I did this - learned how to create washi tape graphics, use clipping mask, golden-like coloring and some other great stuff smiley This is my result - hope you like it.

Really cute! Washi tape is something I love making! Good job. I'm finding it really hard working on elements only as I have started with papers in the past and elements come as I work with my papers. so yep, struggling too!! smiley

This was my first attemt to do something like this smiley and washi is really fun - can easily make a lot and takes just a little time to learn.

Too cute! and I've been obsessed with washi also! Goes so well on layouts smiley

I e never created anything other than brads and frames on my own. Everything else has been extracted from photos. Is there anywhere I might find some instructions for other things to make? Help please. I'm stuck.

Olesya, look at this this website: http://www.hummiesworld.com/. There is a lot of great tutorials on making elements papers and lots of other things. There is lots of templates here on DigitalScrapbook.com that will help you with creating elements, and as you said you usually extract things from photos, so use some of this, add few frames and brads and you are set. smiley I'm looking forward to see what you make.

Ania, that site looks great! I'll spend a bit of time on it a bit later. I have my kit elements made but I might wait for flowers and ribbons to tie in with my papers when the papers are done. I've got 10 elements and some also come in different colours. Not sure I can post until after work. Monday mornings are busy around here (just a few more minutes of quiet before the house awakes! LOL!)

@Olesya there's a few tips here too: https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/forums/digital-scrapbooking/tutorials and all of the templates from the designers here should keep you busy for a while smiley Extractions are always great because they are usually unique. There's also some places on the web that will let you use their resources for CU projects. shapes4free.com is the first one that comes to mind. There's a list around here somewhere. I can't remember but maybe in the blog train or the designer challenge section (when I find it I'll come post the link). I really must get ready for the day now..... smiley

Thank you everyone. I will try to get this all done but I'm not sure it will be on time. So far I have an arrow and 2 flowers from photoshop shapes and styles and I have made a tag/sign. Still lots to do. Better get back to work.

Like I said, I'll do flowers/ribbons a bit later to see where the papers guide me, but I have HEAPS of fun coming up with all those!!
One frame is plain, the other one has a slightly frosted window in it.
I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! specially my sign which I made from scratch! smiley

Aurellja your elements looks very good. smiley

France. I really like your that you made the frame with and without the glass. Great elements.

Thanks Ania smiley

Well, I made my elements smiley and as always I ended up with more than I planned.

I didn't use paths (Marisa's Challenge) to make any of my elements, but I encourage you to use this tool in your designs.

Cute stuffs Ania, I like your drawings!!

France, actually all the drawings are from Pixel Scraper. I just didn't have time to create my own smiley but I'm going to work on that when I find time to expand this mini kit into collection.

Ah! Thanks for explaining. I hadn't looked for designs like that in the templates section yet, so they were all new to me (they are pretty!).
smiley

Great job, everyone!! Love all the varieties in designs.

France, you'll get lost in the wonderful templates here! I've found several and used them to recreate my own elements when I have nothing else better to do. Which isn't often! I do google searches on kits and pick out a few elements to recreate and make my own. There's no end to it lol.

Ania, I had to limit myself as well once I got started. I used to couldn't understand why kits out there had upwards of 100 elements. I guess if I was a scrapper, I'd understand! But, creating these kits just makes me want to add more and more. So now I get it. smiley

Here's my elements. I haven't done up a "formal" kit thing yet as far as uses. I was very busy the last few days and didn't get to making things until yesterday.

Wow, everyone has such pretty stuff! I am finishing up mine today and hopefully have my BT preview finished. smiley

Like everyone's stuff. I'm going to be late. Life happened.....Like France I usually do the paper first.

Linda,

I used to do the papers first, and then elements. But with time I learned that I always want to use some of the elements I created on my papers. So now My workflow is to make theme related elements first, then I will make generic elements, then I will move on to papers starting with solids, then theme related papers, and adding generic patterns at the end. At that point I usually add some more generic elements. I use this workflow when creating collections, in case of mini kits I think you can start with whatever you make first if this is something you feel more comfortable with. Just remember that you can add the elements to this thread later. We all know that life happens.

I look forward to everyones elements.

Lisa,

When I'm inspired with a kit I always create a lot of elements and that is how I end up with my big collections. smiley For this challenge I picked creating a mini kit, because I know life happens and we don't have much time to create whole collections smiley and it is a great start to learn creating a kit. As we all know we can always add more elements and papers to create a whole kit if we want to smiley.

Lisa, I love your bunny tag and your colors.

Here are my elements. This is my element portion of the blog train. smiley

I did some extractions, played with shapes/styles, tools, and even made a 'graffiti paint' for the very first time.

I am definitely going to be a bit late on this. Haha. Started making papers and elements for the blog train. But I'm still thinking of what I'm going to make for this challenge, too. smiley

Hello! I think I'm late, but anyway, here is my kit so far (still working on more elements!):
