Pick a color scheme and I'll give you a daily prompt to create something. By the end of the month you'll have a finished kit!
In this thread you may post:
- Questions and comments on completing each asset.
- Finished assets and/or templates. You may of course post small thumbnail images if you are saving the finished product for something.
- I'll post a new thread each week so that things don't get too out of hand.
- Don't worry if you're behind or starting in the middle, feel free to share whatever you make.
May 2017 Mini Kit Challenge Themes
I'm thinking papers for these, but really it's up to you and what you want to do:
Sat, May 13 - Chevron
Sun, May 14 - Scatter/Uneven
Mon, May 15 - Words
Tues, May 16 - Damask
Wed, May 17 - Ornamental
Thur, May 18 - Geometric
Fri, May 19 - Extra Small
This is what I came up with today...does it feel cohesive?
Here is what I have so far...it's just a screen shot since i am still working on the whole preview concept.
sorry i cannot figure out how to share the image from google drive, so here is this link instead.
looks GREAT!
I've been working on my Springtime Palette today (I'm working with two palettes) and I'm coming up with two separate designs on that one palette, so I'm previewing both. I like to work with weaves and some of my weaves end up with darker colors, so I'm working with a light design and a dark design.
The Construction Paper Weaves are Transparent Overlays so I tried to show the transparency on the backing (I have a transparent file that I use for such purposes):
Here's the Springtime Light:
and here's the Springtime Dark:
Did my first 2 days....
will most likely post the whole weeks papers next Sunday
I hope its ok that I uploaded this to the gallery!!! I didn't set out to create a travel themed mini to start but we are moving to Germany and travel has been on my mind lately. The plan now for this kit is to design the elements next week with my happy planner in mind. The colors seemed so soft in the palette but I'm not so sure now. Oh well! This was a blast!!!
Managed to get something for the first 2 days. Now I'm wondering if I should go apply to the Commons so I can get feedback, lol. I have saved everything that looked ok - and the final cull will be rather hard I fear - hopefully I'll at least have some good ones, grin.

Looking good everyone! Thanks for playing along!
@Amanda: You can only post projects in the gallery, no supplies allowed. I removed your post, but uploaded it to imgur and replaced the image here. We have directions here for sharing photos in the forums.
Will start on this eventually!
Not done with all, but here is what I have done so far ... loving the suggestions!
great color choices all around.
I went ahead and got ahead.... probably make more before the next round is posted...
Of course I had to make more than one color of a couple of them
It feels cohesive to me! I think any of these kits so far would benefit from a few solids thrown in but we'll see where the prompts take us I'm hoping one of the final instructions might be 'finishing touches' where we add whatever we feel the kit is lacking.
Here are mine I was originally going to use a different palette with a totally different theme but once I started working with the colors they just wouldnt speak to me! That lead me to a new palette and a common theme right now which is mothers day - which for us Swedes doesn't happen until the 28th of May so I'm right on time!
Kayl...that is the story of my life!
Hey I'm glad it's not just me! I went through maybe 3 or 4 palettes before I landed on the one I'm now using!
Hi guys, so this is what I have so far, I really hope I'm doing this right!
I decided to design a kit for all the alternative kids like me who like the edgy side of things.
So if you know someone like me, or you are someone like me, hopefully this little experiment of mine will be useful to you too!
So this is my palette based off a (terrible quality) photo I took at one of my first concerts;
And this is what I've got done;
I'm really hoping to start working on some solids to round out my papers and some elements to fit this week's prompts now.
Thanks for guiding me! I've got my imgur account set up and ready for the next step!
I will probably add a few more "grungier" papers in before the end... the theme is graduation.
Looking good!
@Laurel: Love that little strip of gold in the chevron pattern!
@Samantha: Love the idea of an alternative kit! Fun that you used an old photo for the colors.
@Kayl: Loving those soft and sweet colors! The patterns are so delicate.
@Angela: Love the metallic feeling some of the patterns make.
@Kathrine: Looks fun and festive! Perfect for a fiesta.
@Mylinn: Looking good so far! Love the interesting blue paper with the cool texture. Definitely think about applying to the Commons, you'll get some good feedback there!
@Amanda: I'm always a sucker for a good travel theme! Love that softly blended green paper with the circles.
@Betsy: Super fun and interesting patterns!
@Rachel: Looks amazing! Love the gradient in the damask paper!
Samantha I am absolutely in love with this kit!
Okay... I wanted to participate but I also wanted to work on some blog train offerings... So, I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and follow along with the the prompts and use the July Blog Train colors. Here is my paper pack!
I love that idea, Erin--maybe I'll be able to get something made for the June train that way!
I wanted to do a mini for father's day
Here's my preview! I went with a summer theme, although I should have done what Erin did, too!
Gorgeous Kayl...very cohesive and it feels very soft and feminine!
Beautiful Erin...I love the chevron!
Tina I so covet that green arrow pattern! The lemon lime paper is also wonderful!
Finally got around to deciding what I should put in 'kit' and what I should keep for myself (delete, me? nevah lol).
Here is my results for week 1. Redid the tire/mud brush as a slant and I think I got something for everything except Damask. Credits on Flickr page.
I've applied to the Commons but please, comments and tips and suggestions always welcome!
ps. this was such fun, especially the 2 I made myself from self made brushes. Papers are 12x12 at 300 dpi

@ Kayl I'm having trouble with my palette, as well. Darn, it looked so pretty as a palette, but when it came to designing with it, I just lost my "mojo".
