Pass the Kit: Advanced 2

Talk about whatever you want here!

Our thread is here! yay!

Okay, group, let's get organized!

I received the palette first, made something, and passed it on to Catherine, who I believe made something and passed it on to Shelley.

We just need to pull Cintia into the loop and then we'll have all our email addresses and can set up a shared dropbox folder (if that works for everyone).

I thought it was SO fun when Catherine told me my creation set off inspiration for hers, which I think is a cool thing about this pass-the-kit format, but I also know we might want to work on things in the interim times - what do you think about waiting until each of us has made our first design before any of us make anything else, so everyone gets a "say" as it were in the creative inspiration pool, and then after that it can be a free-for-all? Or we can do it where we actually do wait until we get the kit "passed" back to us, so for example I make something, pass to Catherine, that cues her to start making something, and meanwhile I don't make anything new until it goes around and I get it passed back from Cintia.

Preferences? Other thoughts besides those two options?

One more thing I wanted to ask about - I know Catherine has made glitters already - do we want to use a shared glitter style set so things coordinate, or each make our own glitter styles if we want to make things glittery?

I just emailed Catherine back but that means I only have her email. She asked me to cc you Violet but I don't know your email. And my DB email is different. Should we just share those emails here?

I like the idea of passing it around that way we aren't making similar items. But I'm not able to sit down and design something every day so the other could work in that aspect..... I would like to hear what others think!

For glitters I'm good with either as well.

Actually I don't have her email. It responded to her through DigitalScrapbook.com.

Here is my email: shelleyctscraps at gmail . com

Ok emailed Cintia. I also created a dropbox folder and invited you all to to the folder. We'll see if Cintia wants to do it that way too!

Shelley

WOW! I love what we've made so far, and I love this theme we seem to have going!

I'll wait until Cintia makes her design and/or we pick how we want to structure our design timing before I start on my next item. But I'm definitely going to be thinking about it!

Thank you so much Shelley for taking the initiative on the Dropbox situation. I think it's going to work well.

Hi ladies,

I emailed Cintia again. Maybe she isn't getting the emails? I posted in the main thread as well. How long do you all think we should wait before moving forward?

I'll start working on my next piece (well... I actually already did, because it's complicated and I knew it would take me a while to work out the details) (I broke my own suggested guideline!) (but I was also willing to be flexible and adapt if Cintia's design inspired me in a different direction).

At any rate - I actually have enough done already that I can put a preview in the Dropbox folder (I'm still playing with different techniques since I'm doing something I've never done before).

So I'll put that in the Dropbox and then Catherine, consider yourself tagged next in our relay!

Whenever Cintia appears we can figure out how we want to proceed from there.

EDIT: Done! Take a look Catherine, and then I'm excited to see what you and Shelley make next! This is so so fun smiley

Still nothing from Cintia. From viewing the other team threads it seems they are just working on stuff and adding it as they go rather than waiting to literally pass it around. What do you all think about that? I know we are supposed to kind of build on each others designs but it may be a bit slow going if it takes us a day or two to get once piece then get it passed on? We have 10 days left to the deadline....

Do we want to decide on a for sure theme and just have at it? Or set a certain number of papers and elements for each of us?

Just wondering what you all think? This has been a little hard for me as I usually get a full kit done over a span of 3-4 days so I tend to design 10-20 items at a time and doing just one then waiting is harder than I thought it would be but fun to be working with others as well so it's a trade off!!!

I have a few things ready to go I was just waiting to see what Catherine adds to see which would work best or if I should go a different direction. I did make a cardstock pack of each color (I didn't think any of us wanted to add just one at a time since it's 8 papers). I can add that unless someone else wanted to do that or split it for different textures etc. I used the same texture for the whole pack.

Let me know your thoughts ladies! I am open to almost anything. These are purely suggestions and we don't have to do any of it if you don't want!

Also my portion will be Personal Use. I hope that's ok.

Thanks for all your thoughts, Shelley!

I think let's just go for it. For a title and theme, what do you think about "Celestial"? That's what I've been thinking in my head as I gather ideas and inspiration for this kit. I think that would fit well with what you suggested you'd like to add, as well as what we already have and the things I've been thinking about making.

How about this for an idea - as soon as we make something, we add it to the Dropbox folder. Maybe even if (like with my recent addition - don't want to name it here since this is a public thread, gotta save some surprise) it's not quite finished, but finished enough for other people to get the sense of what we've made. That way we can all keep checking the Dropbox folder (I know I look throughout the day, to see if you've added any goodies) and keep inspiring each other, but without the formality of waiting to notify the next person and pass the kit along. And then of course if we did put an unfinished piece in just for others to get the sense of it, we'd replace the preview version with the final version when it's ready, so the final kit is all nice and ready to go when we're done.

That's my thought about how to go forward with the time we have left.

I'm also making stuff for PU only, Shelley; it's fun to not have the constraint of only using CU4CU resources. I do think it's fine if any of us wants to take something someone else has put in the folder and remix it to make a new design (make a card using someone else's paper, etc.) - because we're all the "authors" of this kit, we can share within it.

And the cardstock pack sounds great, thanks for making that. Add it to the folder!

Yes I was hesitant in saying too much! I deleted the theme part from my post. I'm good with the kit name, that is often the hardest part for me!

Sounds good on proceeding and checking-in to see that we are all meshing well. That was my plan too. I find myself checking it a few times a day when I have the time to see if anything new has been added!

Ok I have added a few items. Can't wait to see what you ladies have been working on!

Ummm.... I think it might be just you and me, now, Shelley? I have no idea where Cintia and Catherine have gone. I emailed Catherine, too...

I noticed that too. I was hoping my last post sparked some action but it has not. Sad but I think we can still put out a good little kit. I plan on just plugging along adding when I can..... I get my cute little 7 month old nephew today for 8 hours while my sister works but I should be able to add a few more items tomorrow.

Violet are you still participating?

HI girls, I was traveling, but I am back home now! I am set up to go. There is just one problem: I can't find the email you sent me... Could it be that I deleted by mistake? Could you send me again? Dropbox, email, anything is fine by me. Please, forgive me for being absent till now. I promise I'll do everything I can now!

Oh! And I do love the theme Celestial too!

Hi Cintia. Can you just give me your email address? You can use the contact me form in here. That way I can invite you to the dropbox folder where we are putting the items?

I can contact you via the contact form but then you would in turn have to give me your email anyway. Or you can email me directly at shelleyctscraps at gmail . com

Thanks!

Dropbox has the color palette, some glitter styles from Catherine and the items we have each made so far. We are just creating items and dropping them in as we go as the pass it around thing was not working. So once you have that acess you should be good to go!

Yes, Shelley, I'm still here, sorry! All my inspiration right now seems to be for other projects, so for the last few days I've been drawing a blank or else making uninspired stuff for our kit. That's why you haven't seen me around in the Dropbox folder lately. smiley

Welcome back, Cintia! I am excited to see what you make!

I'm a little worried about Catherine... I don't know her well but it seems unlike her not to say anything if she knew in advance she was going away for vacation or the like. I hope everything's going okay in her world right now...

Hi group,
I added several more things to the dropbox folder, though they're all works in progress at some point of completion or another, nothing is at its final version yet. I like seeing what you're making for inspiration, and usually I don't finalize anything until the last minute, so I'm adding previews of my unfinished work to the folder in case it is helpful for inspiring/showing what's already being worked on/etc.

Hi Shelley,
I sent you mail. I can't wait to get started! smiley
Hi Violet and Catherine!

Cintia, invited you to the folder and replied to your email!

Looks great Violet.

I will be adding some more this weekend or Monday if I don't get the time this weekend. We have a lot going on with family, twin cousins birthday party and dinner, which is also a dinner with grandpa before he heads south for warmer weather during the winter months! Possibly a visit to the haunted house but trying to talk my husband out of that one. A music practice for the kids for their singing program in church tomorrow.

Can't wait to see how the kit starts to come together!

Entering the db right now! smiley

Very nice Cintia, glad you did journal cards, I'm not fond of making those! And I like your flairs so I will forgo my plans for flairs and focus on other essentials, thanks!

Thank you Shelley! smiley I'm glad you like what I did and I can't wait to see how everything turns out in the end. Lovlely parts already made!!!

Wow, Cintia, you are so fast! I can't believe you just whipped out a minikit like it was no big deal. Awesome. smiley

Do either of you like making previews? I believe we're supposed to have one for our kit when it's done, yes? Or do we make a preview made up of an arrangement of individual previews of each of our parts?

If we are doing a group preview, let's pick an earlier-than-the-end-date date by which everything will be finished so the preview person has time to compile everything.

I think I'm winding down as I have several other projects that are calling for my attention. I may make one or two more papers just to round out my contribution.

Hi Violet,
I like the idea of making a preview with everyone's parts so we and everyone downloading have a sense of how everything comes together right? I can try and make a preview but, to be honest, I am not the best at it. Specially when it come to big kits! smiley How about we finish updating our thing at dropbox 10/28? So, the person doing the prevew will have 2-3 days to update. What do you think?

Sounds good to me! Shelley, any thoughts about this?

I'm not good at previews for full kits either, I have only ever done one. But I can do it if you want me to! We need to get everyone's logo's and TOU's as well. So how do we want to post it for download? Each of our parts only on our blogs or all the download links for the kit on each blog? I have direct download so if you want me to package it all up and give you links to post I can do that. I am done I just need to QC my portion and then re-upload anything I change. I should be finished with that by today or tomorrow at the latest.

What about Catherine and her one paper? Since she hasn't responded do we include it or leave it out since we can't get a logo and TOU?

I think tomorrow is a good deadline. I would need to get the preview done by Wednesday since I won't have much time Thursday or Friday. Let me know!
