FLASH Challenge (48 hours) - Recipe

For this flash challenge use ONLY the following items in a layout:
1 journal card
5 flowers
paint
3 papers
1-5 photos

The Details

  1. Challenge ends 48 hours after the original posting
  2. See updated rules here.
  3. You must tag your layouts with these THREE tags: may 2015 layout challenge, flash, flash only 2015 challenge
  4. See entered layouts here.
  5. Link your layout here in the forum to your gallery. Doing this makes it much easier for others to find your layout and smiley or comment on it. If you don't know how to do this there is a great tutorial here

Not sure when the challenge ends? It is quite simple to figure out. Above my photo on the 1st post it says how many days or hours ago the post was made - if you hover over it with your mouse it will give you the exact time and date (this works on all the replies also). Then you would just add 48 hours smiley Here is a screenshot:

Curse you, Kaleena, and your journal card! LOL I got all excited about the recipe challenge (I really like this one!) until I read "journal card." Well, I downloaded Melo's journal cards from the blog train, so I might as well put at least one to use instead of them collecting dust on my hard drive.

hahaha - it is a challenge remember?! ;P Melo did make some pretty awesome journal cards. It seems that more and more kits have at least one or two in them now also.

I know, I know ... the whole point is to challenge yourself. Like the sketch challenge, I think the tag I used looks out-of-place. (shrugs) Melo's cards are gorgeous; that's why I downloaded them. I'm going to try this layout in a bit and see what happens.

I love these kinds of challenges. I can work the journal card, but 5 flowers? haha...that might be a challenge for me. Hmmm...wonder which kit I should use. Off to go browse...

Can't wait to see what y'all come up with. smiley

I decided to go with a double-frame, using the third paper for it, so I could stick the journal card in there rather than trying to figure out a good spot for it. lol I was going to use Sheila's frame, but then I remembered you wrote "... ONLY the following items," and made my own from a template. I used a paint splatter, but glittered it.

P.S. Why do my layouts always look blurry when posting to the forum? smiley

OHHHH!! Sounds fun! Off to Photoshop!

My! smiley

Here's Mine! I had a lot of fun with this!

I almost forgot the paint . . . had to go back in and figure out where to fit that!

Awesome layouts, Ladies! I love to see the different things created when everyone has the same list of items.

@Vidia - I have no idea why they appear blurry, unless you are making them bigger in the forum post than what the uploaded size is.

I love recipe challenges!!

Kaleena, no, I'm not doing that at all. I saved that one as 600 X 600, and those are the dimensions I put into the little pop-up. Normally, I save as 1000 X 1000 (as recommended in the gallery), then input 600 X 600 when posting in the challenge threads. Maybe I'm doing something else wrong?

I was doing the same thing Vidia (1000x1000 for upload and 600x600 for thread) and it seemed like more of them were looking blurry/fuzzy than not. It drives me crazy! I started sizing mine down to 500x500 in the thread and it helps a little. Just to ease my own OCD over it! lol.

It drives me crazy because I see the difference between mine and everyone else's. lol Do people sharpen after resizing the layout, or something? It's been bugging for so long I feel like I'm about to start pulling my hair out in frustration. lol I'm going to try your way in a second; edit my post in here to 500 X 500 and see what happens.

Ugh, I can tell if there's a difference. hahaha

I've started doing that as well (using 500x500), as think it seems the linked image can vary in pixels since it's not pulling the 'true size' (since you can sometimes click on the image and it will pop up in a larger window. (I have no idea if that makes any sense, but I hope it does smiley )

@Vidia - I do sharpen all my layouts after re-sizing to 1000x1000. I use unsharp mask @ 30%, 0.3 pixels most of the time.

Here's mine. Flowers were not working for me on this layout, so they were pretty much paper weights...lol! But there is 5. smiley

Hmm, okay ... next time I'll try sharpening the layout and see if that helps at all. Thanks for the tip! smiley
