Layout Challenge - Beautiful - Deadline April 30

This video made me cry earlier today when I realized that I probably would have chosen the average door and that many people that I know would have done the same. I did some thinking and a little soul searching and was strongly inspired to create a layout challenge focusing on how beautiful each and every one of us truly is.

For this layout challenge create a layout with a photo (or photos) of only you and include the phrase "I AM Beautiful" somewhere in your layout.

The Details

  1. Challenge ends after April 30, 2015
  2. See updated rules here.
  3. You must tag your layouts with these THREE tags: apr 2015 layout challenge, apr beautiful, beautiful
  4. See entered layouts here.
  5. Link your layout here in the forum to your gallery. Doing this makes it much easier for others to find your layout and smiley or comment on it. If you don't know how to do this there is a great tutorial here.

This is interesting. I think I want to force myself to do this since I couldn't do the one that Marisa posted a few weeks ago, "What are you good at?".

Great challenge Kaleena! Isn't it sad how many of us struggle with that word when it comes to ourselves?!

Yes it is really sad. So I know this will truly be a challenge for most of us to do (hence the long deadline). I took me 2 hours to pick what photo to use >< I really feel it is important though and everyone I have met through DigitalScrapbook.com is beautiful. However it is one thing for me to tell everyone that they are beautiful it is another to be able to be able to say it to yourself about yourself. The world is cruel enough we don't need to be hating on ourselves ever.

I am looking forward to seeing the layouts that you create, Melanie & Krissy.

Great idea! smiley I totally agree with what you say.

I generally take terrible pictures and hate having my photo taken. I have a crooked smile, thin lips and one eye is lower than the other. I have always had large thighs and that is what I focus on never on the good things. I am constantly trying to loose weight. It is very hard to say I am beautiful. What a mess our society has created.
I love the colour blue and what I call puff balls (which are not exactly what is shown on the page) they make me feel happy and that is a big part of feeling beautiful. It is a struggle every day but I am working on it.

Cheryl, I think you are beautiful. I don't think any of those things you mentioned make you "unbeautiful", for lack of a better word. I think that's what makes you beautiful, it's all our imperfections that make us unique and "us". Just like you said "There is no other me". IMHO, it's our "insides" that dictate how beautiful we are. Many times once I get to know someone who is a kind person they are so much more beautiful and vise versa. Now, off to go make my own layout and I'm sure I'll feel the same way as you while making mine, completely forgetting my own advice. smiley

This was so hard! My wish is to FEEL beautiful... with gaining weight recently, it's pretty touch to do, but I'll get there!

that is lots of love to Krissy & Cheryl for completing a layout for this challenge. I know it is really a challenge as I struggled with mine too.

that is lots of love for those who are thinking about or working on this challenge.

We are all beautiful. Though I know it is one thing for someone to tell you that and another thing entirely to feel that way about yourself.

wow Kaleena! i saw the dove video too and it was hard to watch. in our cultures, beauty is usually boiled down to how we measure up to a very specific ideal. the ideal beauty is an extremely rare and often faked image type. it is very difficult to stand up for ourselves, even in our own hearts and minds, against the flood that promotes these beliefs. you have created a timely and truly needed challenge that will hopefully 'challenge' our mindsets to accept what is beautiful about ourselves! smiley

Thanks Melanie, I look forward to seeing your layout!

Done finally! I really LOVE this kit by Violet.

Here's mine!!

Wow...this is an amazing challenge. That video brought me to tears as well! I totally agree with you, Kaleena, that it is easier to tell others that they are beautiful than to embrace our own selves as beautiful - just as we are. I'm a little intimidated by the challenge but that tells me all the more reason to do it.

And all you beautiful ladies have made beautiful layouts!

Was totally inspired and finished mine tonight!

Melanie, Emily & Amanda - you pages are wonderful! Thanks again for participating.
smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley lots of love again for everyone.

Wonderful Challenge Kaleena and beautiful layouts ladies! Its wonderful to see your personalities coming out thru your layouts!

Wonderful! Great pages - Linda and Jessica smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley
Thanks for participating.

smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley smiley lots of love again for those who are thinking about or working on this challenge.

Yep, I cried watching that. Knowing that I definitely would've walked through the average door and so would've most of the amazing beautiful women that I know and love. I'm not even sure that I have a photo of just myself to complete this challenge with. All of the completed layoutss are amazing and ALL of them are made by BEAUTIFUL women.

Amazing video! I had to go make a layout right away, and since I needed to reward myself for finishing our taxes, there was no better time than the present! smiley

I really want to do this challenge, but I can't bring myself to write "I am beautiful" about myself. Haha. Husband says that I look down on myself. I tell him that I am a realist! smiley

Maia- It was hard for me to do it too, but it felt really good once I finished! By the way, I see your picture, and you ARE beautiful!

BethAnn - your page is beautiful just like you!
Adriana - even if you don't create a layout I am glad that you have been thinking about this challenge and that you are beautiful.
Maia - It seems that in life we are always our very meanest critics. Often times the things we think are horrible or awful about ourselves other people don't see as flaws or even at all.

This challenge has turned into so much more than I ever imagined that it would - for that I thank each and every one of you. smiley

For those still thinking about creating a layout we are rooting for you and sending you smiley and strength - you are beautiful!

Maia, Beauty is not based on looks! It is much, much more than skin deep. It is about how you treat others, how you react/respond to the way they treat you. It is about your values, your priorities and the decisions you make in life. Your character defines your beauty, so believe your husband! If anyone should know, he does. smiley

Thanks for posting this challenge, Kaleena. I really liked watching the video and reflecting on what beauty really is. It is a daily challenge, in the midst of this perverse world, to keep the proper focus about the outward appearance, verses the character within.

To all of you that are wavering.....yes! you are beautiful! So please, accept this challenge and take the first step in proclaiming that truth!

A good challenge, everyone is beautiful!

I love all the layouts. This challenge is amazing Kaleena.

Here is my layout:

wow did i struggle with this one! First with a picture of myself ( I'm that mom. I hide behind the camera, I'm not in pictures) Then to get brave enough to post it. One of my biggest struggles in life is my self-esteem I have none. I Know what door I would choose. I Don't know if I could be brave enough to choose the Beautiful Door. *takes a deep breathe and hit post*

Moontje, Ania & Kamie - these layouts are amazing. You are all such beautiful women. smiley thank you again for participating.
