@teddy oh, I remember those art work challenges, too! Yea, they were a little harder than the magazine ads for me. Hope we get to do one of these here

I saw a tag on one of Bina's layouts that said: 5 minute layout or 5 minute layouts. Was that from way back when? I think that idea would be a good challenge.

Linda: 5 minute layouts is something that I do a lot, I am not sure if anyone else here does them a lot. If you want you can read about it on my blog. smiley Of course it is temptig to try an LC on 5 min LO's.

Cool - I'll go check it out. Might also be good to do a 5-minute layout as part of a slow scrap - like put aside 5 minutes to quickly do a layout before we get started on the slow scrap section? Thanks for the info!

How about a mini kit challenge - pick a mini kit and everything, papers and elements, have to be from that one mini kit? Apart from the photos, of course.

OR choose a mini kit from the last 3 mini kits offered in the free mini kit subscription and use one of those?

How about a challenge to create a layout with *no* pictures - just a favorite quote(s) or saying(s)? Or a letter to your 13 year old self? Or another chain layout - where the scrapbooker defines the color or pattern or theme for the next one. Just love those. smiley

October 2020 - Halloween during a pandemic!! How would your family do it?

Great ideas, here. Keep'em coming. smiley I think there will be something about Halloween....
This year I have pulled thru a Month In Review Challenge and I am planning on doing something comparable next year. These MIR LCs are great for the use of pocket style layouts. Marisa has many absolutely fantastic pocket style quickpages in the store for example. I might include calendars and I would like to ask you if you are thinking of anything else that could be included?

Can I suggest a layout template challenge for January? smiley

A gallery treasure hunt.

I was just inspired by Sharon's (DigiDewi) latest layout on "Why I Scrap". This would be a great layout challenge some time as it will encourage us to document the reasons behind our scrapping obsession and focus on what's most important.

@Linda De Los Reyes: smiley I heard there is something in the pipe. What a great idea, Linda.

@Joy Grise: Would you mind to explain? It sounds intriguing.

@Teddy Prayer: smiley

Something we did in my IT class last year;
You choose a category, then use a picture you took, a professional picture from online (Credited of course), and a drawing/graphic/clipart (again, credited)

Haven't finished past page 2 but am having ideas....such a wonderful thread!! I need to jump back into scrapbooking, so inspired. Before I forget, here are a few of my oddball suggestions. (apologies if I duplicate a previous suggestion)

Digital gluebook -
I gluebook irl. There is this pick 5 challenge. Tell google how many pages are in a random magazine you own, get 5 random numbers and then use either side of the pages pulled out. Perhaps, pick a number (say 6), On search page, select element and hit random. Download the 6th image. Repeat till have 5 individual downloads - then scrap a page using all 5 plus whatever else one wants.

Clip challenge -
Using a shape or Silhouette and a favorite paper, clip together then use it to scrap a layout. I love doing doll and or house layouts myself using a manniquin, animal, dress, etc and adding bits from kits. For ex: this deer fits winter theme https://www.digitalscrapbook.com/sharon-dewi-stolp/designs/winter-wonderland-snow-deer-glitter-graphic-element-animal-nature-outdoors

Album Cover - An old Facebook challenge I still do when want to create but have lost my mojo. The link below lists the pieces to use. I prefer to edit flickr search to only return CC items (then adding the info to my credit list).

Off to read more ideas, now where did I stick the Notebook O'Listing?

How about a MIDNIGHT HOUR layout challenge! You put out the challenge on midnight of the second to last day of the month and you have 24 hours to complete a layout - for example, from midnight of Feb 27th to midnight of Feb 28th. smiley

How about a layout using Emoji(s)?

I think it would be fun to choose one particular kit for a layout challenge. It's always so interesting to see how many different layouts come from just one kit smiley

Another idea - how about a challenge using *only* paper? No pre-made embellishments...only what the person creates herself/himself from paper...

Thank you!! smiley Such great ideas here for SLM 2021 this August.

How about a color-it-forward with more than one color.
Like: use navy as your main color and any shade of pink as your accent.
Or just pick two random colors to use in the layout.

Scrap scriptures

Hi all,

I would also suggest scrapbooking challenges "Metallic" for the hobbies of male members (not just little boys) of the family.

I like metallic design/steampunk rusty, brass, silver, copper & stainless steel on scraps.

Craft, vintage cars, motorcycles, tractors from agriculture (also there vintage), industrial photography with material mix, old factories converted into museums and much more.

My Oldtimer-Scrap

Bingo board with elements to use in your layout, and you need to pick one row, column, or diagonal line to include.

@Tee Faris: Hey Tee, we have been having scripture challenges each month for a couple of years. Please join us here this January.

How about a challenge to scraplift those layouts we've been saying we would from the Gallery Scavenger Hunts

@Doska: Steampunk is such a great idea, Doska.

@Shaindel Plum: Great idea, Shaindel!

I just had a thought earlier. I'm not sure if this has been done before but, we could choose our favorite layout from our own gallery here and scraplift it or choose our least favorite and redo it to something we like more or scraplift it... Just a thought.
