May Element A Day: Week 1

Keep posting your creations in the new Week 2 thread.

This designer challenge will run the entire month of May. The goal is to make an element a day. If you don't have time everyday to participate, that's okay; there will be wiggle room to play catch up. Everyday there will be a new theme for you to use, although some themes might repeat at some point. Before we start you can give some thought to what color palette you would like to use and what you'd like to do with your finished product, which should be 31 elements. (Here's a link to my pinterest board for color palettes.)

In this thread you may post:

  1. Questions and comments on completing each element.
  2. Finished elements and/or templates. You may of course post small thumbnail images if you are saving the finished product for something.
  3. I'll post a new thread each week so that things don't get too out of hand.
  4. Don't worry if you're behind or starting in the middle, feel free to share whatever you make.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm so excited to make elements . . . all different kinds of elements!

I'm brand new to the world of DS and I've been wanting to start making my own kit -
I think this is a great way to get into it and to learn!
I know it's a bit early - but I couldn't help but get excited!

I love the color scheme above from Marisa's
"Color Love" board on Pinterest.

I decided I'd start with blue denim - with a nice free stock photo (yay awesome people out there!) - and here is my FIRST EVER creation! Hopefully many more to follow...

Wow Bianca! That's really good for a first creation! I'm excited about this too, its a good pace to give us time for creating, and it keeps me focused (serious ADD over here):) Can't wait to see the rest!

This should be fun, challenging but fun. Here's my first element - brackets

I have a question. Does "making from scratch" mean no template of any kind?

My first element - Brackets

This is going to be tricky, but fun! smiley

@Lou Anne: You should start from a place that challenges you, but so that you can still complete the task, if that makes sense. So you can use templates if you'd like. But if you're pretty competent at using templates, I'd suggest branching out a bit and trying something new.

My first time to do this so I am not sure what I am doing. I used a shape I got from Scrapping Cop. Is that okay? Do I have to put this in the gallery? This is what I made. I love shades of blue and green. smiley

Fun brackets everyone! Here are mine:

@Edna, please, don´t put it on the gallery... we keep it restrict to layouts. Posting here is fine smiley

Let´s see if I go better in ellie a day than I went on paper a day...

I know how I´ll do my bracket for today, but, while it isn´t done, I´d like to throw some inspiration around.

How cool is it?

Also, the definition of bracket on wikipedia lists all of them as brackets, although, in some moment, tells that only the first is called bracket...

I love the 'staches Lorien! That is so cute!
Thanks Sheila!
So exciting seeing all the pretty creations and glad I joined the challenge!

@Lorien, I busted out laughing when I saw those cute typestaches!
Here is mine:

I was looking forward to this starting. Don't know if I'll be able to make everything on the list, but I'm going to give it my best shot. smiley

thank you Marisa. That makes it really clear. It's such an encouraging way to explain it.

Thank you Marisa. That is a very encouraging way to explain it.

Here's my "from scratch" bracket set

Everyone has made the most amazing brackets. I love all of them-they're all so different. Kudos to everyone!

Does anyone know of any good "stitching" tutorial?

how fun- will try to have a go later today!

I wasn't too sure where to start with these. Wanted to use a photograph but then decided I'd like to do most on the computer so I can improve... So these are my abstract doodle flowers - hope it counts as a flower! It didn't take too long so if I have more time maybe I cn go with the photo after all.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with...

- Just in case I made a 'doodle'... I had to make another...

A little early but I'll be too busy later in the week.

Here is mine:

I am using the same color palette as April.

Here are my flowers for May 2:

I wanted to make a doodled bracket with my tablet, but they keep being with jagged edges and I am trying to fix them in vain smiley so, day 1 = fail smiley

Day 1_Brackets

@Chickie Those flowers are absolutely STUNNING!

Looking good everyone! Here's my flower and frame for tomorrow:

I couldn't choose between mine... so I will just use my preview for the flowers
