Creating Digital Lace Tutorial

Does anyone know how to create digital lace? There is a tutorial out her somewhere and I've always wanted to learn how to do so. Thank you.

I just draw a section of it (potentially using smart objects to make it symmetrical) and create a brush. I try to size the repeating section at 600+ pixels so I can make high-quality lace up to 2" wide. If it's a simple enough lace pattern, I'll make a strip of it into a custom shape as well, so I can use it for templates.

Hi Holly! You are always a wealth of information. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. smiley

Sharon .... I will often use a piece of tulle image to start with .. cut a strip of it and paste it into the file first and work on that ... it gives the lace a more 'real' look to it... many laces are done on a tulle like grid

I found this tutorial, looks interesting but I've not yet read it in it's entirety myself.

Thank you so much, Susan! Do you by chance know where I can buy some tulle image? Thank you for your help.

Hi Rose, thank you so much for the tut! I will read through it and give it a go. Thank you again!!

Sharon ... I scanned my own using a black box as a background and went from there but if you google it I'm sure somebody will have a mesh or tulle background for free

Oh My that must of been difficult to extract perfectly! Thank you Susan for your info. I should get a black box. Did you make it yourself, or did you purchase it?

Sharon,

KimBDesigns has a kit of CU patterns with metal styles where the patterns can be used without her metal styles and could be used like tulle...

footnote: I have no connection to/with KimBDesigns other than being a big fan of her designs.

Oh thank you so much, Rose! I love SugarHillco. Rose, you are a wealth of information, thank you again for taking the time in answering me. smiley
