File Sharing site list ... it's long :)

I found this today .... it is a very long list of different file sharing sites ... have not had time to check the links though but thought I'd share it anyway smiley

Thanks for sharing Susan! smiley

This must be an older list since some of them are gone...like hotfile.com and megaupload.com
Megaupload is the one the US government and FBI shut down for illegal file sharing.

Others like letitbit will not let people in the US download from them because of the above mentioned
megaupload shut down. They mostly are used by people for illegal file sharing and do NOT want the
US government coming after them. So if someone using them for legitimate reasons pays for an
account and lives outside the US...their files can't be downloaded by Anyone living in the US. That
obviously would not work well for someone making kits to sell or to make blog freebies available.

So please everyone...use caution with that list. 2 of the most trusted and used of them right now are
dropbox and box. Dropbox seems to be better than box since you can run out of bandwidth very quickly
with box. Mediafire is also another trusted one and works best for designers willing to pay for an account to
make direct links with for anyone downloading your items. You can use them for free, but can not
make the links direct downloads...so everyone deals with A LOT of pop up ads.

As with anything...the best thing to do is read the fine print and be cautious with unknown sites...LOL! smiley

Kathie ... thanks ... as I said I hadn't a chance to look into the links .... with hubby's knee n the mix I've barely time to surf lol

You're welcome Susan. That's a Long list...LOL! I wouldn't bother trying to go thru them all and
read all the fine print.

I mostly know about some of the from the news stories that came out because of the whole megaupload thing
and the other way I know about some of the others is because someone started a thread here awhile back to
let some members know that their blog train kits were on some pirate sites. I followed the links there and decided
to see what they were doing. They had not only the kits, but moves, music, tv shows, software (not sure how
they get some of it to work without a serial number) and tons of other stuff.

I looked to see what links they were using since I know they get paid for every download that's made. Letitbit was
one used A LOT by people outside the US and under a bunch of them, people in the US complained that they could
not download from them and were asking them to upload the stuff to somewhere else.

The good news is that the sites I like to upload to, were NOT used there, which I was happy about. I guess they don't
use those because we do not get paid for every download, we have to pay to use them...LOL! Hmmmm, maybe
I shouldn't be happy about that....hahaha! smiley

I'm glad you posted it....it gives everyone a chance to see what is available and which sites to be more careful with.

Going to those pirate forums gave me a chance to see which places they upload to. I do not want to use one of them,
because they could very well get shut down by the government like megaupload. And since I pay for a year at a time,
I don't have to worry that I will lose all my money and uploads if they do get shut down. Make sense? smiley

I hope your hubby's knee is better. Have a good weekend!

It was dated March 2012 and I'm sure it took a bit to compile so I imagine it is at least 2 years old if not more. But it's still a good list for newbies that might be looking for upload places along with your great notes Kathie. Thanks for sharing all the info you do Ladies! Y'all are awesome assets to our members. smiley

Awww....thank you Shawna! ((Hugs))

YW & I just call it like I see it! smiley
