Is there a glossary or dictionary anywhere?

I am wondering if there is any such page/thread here, or anywhere else on the internet, with all the various terms used in digital scrapbooking and designing?

While I admit that trying to learn everything all at once, while there's lots of other things I should be worrying about, and having trouble with taking in lots of technical stuff, is not the ideal situation to put myself in, I suspect I can't be the only person new to digital scrapping who finds all the words and acronyms and abbreviations somewhat overwhelming.

Is there any such thing anywhere, or is it something which could be compiled? I will happily help in the compilation - if I can figure out the technical stuff.

Currently I am especially eager to figure out what raster, vector and gamut means/involves.

I don't know of a specific dictionary for digital scrapbooking. An interesting idea!

A raster image is one that's based on pixels, while a vector image is based on vectors. Pixels are a specific size, while a vector can be easily resized. Photoshop is raster based, while Illustrator uses vectors. So when you're working in Photoshop it's important to set your canvas size correctly, because if you make something too small it's not easy to make it larger. While if you're working in Illustrator, you can resize things as much as you want.

I'm honestly not clear on the technicalities of vectors, but because of the math involved I think it gets too complicated for things like photos that have a lot going on, so they are saved in raster form. While for something like illustrations, which are simpler the vectors work great.

Gamut refers to the colors used in a graphic. If something is "in gamut" it means that the colors used will print okay. If something is "out of gamut" the colors will change when printed because the color used isn't printable. For screen it doesn't matter. Although you colors can still vary from screen to screen based on the calibration of your screen.
