ISO Grosgrain Ribbon Tutorial

I'd really like to know how to make a grosgrain ribbon of various sizes.

thanks!

@Roxana: If you could let us know which program you are using it will be easier to direct you in the correct direction. Also, I would probably move this over to the software specific forum once I know which you need help with as there are an entire section specifically for tutorials here at the site and then another specifically for software related assistance in designing, etc. Thanks in advance for the additional information so we can try to help you find an answer soon. smiley

@Roxana: PS I'm not a designer so I'm not sure if this would help but here is an element of Janet Scott's for CU you could use to make your own colors until someone can share a tutorial on how to exactly make it. smiley

Hi Roxana,

Now that I see shawnas example and I know what a groosgrain is (lol), I can asnwer: what I usually do is scan and extract my own ribbons. They are, usually, easy to scan. Extract takes some time, due to the bumpy edges, but can be done with a bit of patience. I think that Marisa make hers on photoshop, so posting it here is your best bet.

@ Shawna..I use Photoshop CS5. I did not think to add that bit of very important information smiley . I'll check out the other forum sections you mentioned.

@Lorien it has occurred to me to actually photograph ribbon, buttons etc but I like learned how to make them using photoshop if possible. And thanks for the link. I've already requested help there too.

I just may have to poke around and teach myself then share it here with a tutorial once I earn enough points to be able to post that in the forum.

Thanks to you both!!!

I don't think you can earn enough points to post in that forum. I've got the most next to Marisa which she is at least double mine smiley LoL and I can't even post in that forum... hee hee. no... but seriously I think it is actually for the designers who work here (give away their lovely goodies to us) to share their vast knowledge. You can always post in the forum though under the software specific one I shared the link to here with a tutorial. I'm sure the other new designers would love that. smiley

Yes, when you catch up with me then you can post wherever you want smiley

Shawna, seems you (we????) just got challenged! LMAO

Yea... but I don't think she has a drop of sweat on her brow. LoL I could never catch up with her... she's always busy all over this site doing all kinds of things... I can only imagine how many months of answer every question it would take us to catch up... smiley

Hey I just hit 5,000 tonight!!! I've only got 7,272 more to go... b'wahahahahaha [talk about Mission Impossible] smiley

Haha, go for it Shawna! I seem to be losing points as we go along, I could have sworn I was right behind you in December. What happened there! smiley

not sure... ha ha... i know Lorien and I have always been neck and neck since almost the inception on the site... but maybe Lorien and I have been chatty Cathy's since you became a famous designer. hee hee hee You know her & I both talk way too much, probably! smiley

Here I go again with not being specific enough. I had tried to post in one of the forums but got a message that I needed to have 100 community points to post in it. That is what I was referring to though I guess I expected people to read my mind! Anyway I must have been dreaming because I have not had that message again. I'll try my best to be a lot more clear when I post next. I'm used to confusing myself but embarrassed to do the same to anyone else. smiley

Roxana, or anyone else, Here's a YouTube Video on How to Make Grosgrain Ribbon for Scrapbooking in Photoshop. Looks pretty easy but have not tried yet.

Marisa, Maybe if you want it could be added to the tutorials found outside PS.

THANKS SO MUCH!

@Brenda: Thank you for the tutorial! smiley

Although I use PSE 11, I'm sure that the following site would be helpful to you :

http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com

I have subscribed to this site, so I'm not sure what is available if you aren't a subscriber, but they have a PDF tutorial called "Creating Corner Ribbons". (The ribbons are grosgrain)

I've just found a photoshop action for grosgrain ribbon ....
