I have a ton of pictures that are my daughter with her friends, selfies, school, youth group.....would like to find free items that I could use with these. Not sure exactly what I want, but i'm thinking peace signs, flowers, cell phones, etc that are in bright neon type colors.
I don't have any cell phones (only old-school phones) or peace signs. What else can you think of that you might want? I have purses, bags, combs, brushes, cosmetics, dolls, shoes, hats, fairies, boxes, tiaras, pillows, knick knacks, lamps, etc.
Those sound great! My daughter is 12 will be 13 in a couple months so really anything that is that age group would be great. hearts, smiley faces....animal prints would be good accents too. I seen a really cute pair of Zebra high heels, but you had to create your page on their site and print it to use them
I recently got Eye Candy back (Best plug-in in the world!), so I can make up some full-size animal print papers for you. I have a ton of shoe brushes; you can try making them yourself with the papers. I also can give you the hearts I used on my lyric challenge layout of Twilight; there are various colors and designs on them. I made them long ago, along with a PSP script, but that version of Eye Candy doesn't work on Windows 8, so the script is now useless ... unless I can figure a way to adapt it to the latest version. Actually, scratch that; I'll post the hearts in my freebie thread tomorrow (I'm too tired to do it tonight. LOL). As for the other stuff, let me get it all together tomorrow morning, and I'll contact you privately via here with a link to Dropbox.
If you think of anything else you might want for your layouts, let me know.
Thanks so much Vidia! I would love to learn how to design and make my own stuff....but so far I have only taught myself how to extract items. and that takes me a while, probably an easier way. I managed to make some starfish from a picture I took at the coast. My email is [email protected] if that helps.
I just sent you an email with all the links. Enjoy!
I started out with very easy things to create: papers, buttons, brads, straight ribbon, ricrac, tags, hearts, frames, various other fasteners (clips, pins, staples, paperclips), swirls, etc. I then moved onto butterflies, dragonflies, bees, ladybugs, ants, flowers, balloons, bows, etc. I can create plenty of other stuff, but those are the sorts of elements I learned first. You just need some basic preset shapes to get started before trying to mold your own shapes (Warp and Mesh Warp in Paint Shop Pro; unsure how it's done in PhotoShop). Which program do you use? If you use PSP, I have a TON of basic shapes I can give you; if you use PS or something else, there are plenty of shapes to download from the Assets section on here.
Thank you so much for all the goodies. Do you mind if I change colors on some of them? I use Corel Paintshop Pro Ultimate X7. I would love what ever tips and stuff you have. That would be awesome. I sure the program can do a ton more than I have figured out. not sure what warp and mesh warp are I will have to look for those. I have downloaded a lot of the stuff from here. Just not really tried making my own.....Thanks again for everything:)
My stuff isn't free, but I have...
"Summer Citrus"
"Live Your Life"
Maybe some charms?
"Career Day: Technology" (This one's free!)
Oh, The Scrappin Cop has some freebie elements that would probably work, too...
Yo-yo Flowers
Metal Wires (and styles)
Fun Buttons
Oh, not at all! Most of the stuff are PU freebies I've collected over the years, while others are CU and things I got while I was on Shutterstock. As long as you use it for personal layouts, you can change colors, add on to items, etc.
I just finished downloading X7. I was going to buy it last month as a Christmas present to myself, but decided to get AlienSkin products instead (Eye Candy and other plug-ins). X7 is on sale again until tomorrow. I'm going to play around with it all day and see how different it is from X5.
Warp and Mesh Warp should be 2nd from the bottom on the left-side toolbar. To see what it does, open up a New Image, use the preset ellipse shape (or whichever one you want lol), convert to raster layer (right-click on the layer in the layer palette), then click on Warp Brush. It's probably in Push mode on the top toolbar. Then simply position the cursor somewhere on the circle, left-click and hold, then move the mouse outward towards the edge of the shape. It'll "push" it, distorting the shape. Warp Brush/Mesh Warp is the tool I used to create the bow included in the Winter Arabesque BT.
Tomorrow I'll get together some shapes for you and, for instance, briefly explain how to create basic buttons.
You're welcome!
I made you a tie-dyed peace sign! Feel free to grab it (click on the image then right-click and save as)!
And another one...
Ohh, I like the second one, Tina. Peace signs are not something I'd ever use, but that one is cute.
Well, feel free to snatch it! Maybe it'll surface again in an inspired teenager kit later! Glad you like it, though!
Isn't that funny when you make something for someone or a specific layout, then it ends up inspiring you to do more with it?
Thank you both! Love the peace signs. I will check out the stuff at your store, I like the charms and tech stuff also. It would be so nice to find it all together in one nice little neat package....so good luck on your new kit and be sure to let me know if you do. I think I will have many more years of these kind of pics. I will try that Vidia thank you so much! I know there is a ton I don't know how to use on there, but it seems like the selection tool is way better than in previous versions.
Here is one of my attempts at creating my own. We went on a trip to the coast this summer and these are extracted (not sure if I did it right) from my pictures.
I had a massive migraine yesterday--all afternoon and night--so I didn't get a chance to put together another bundle of files for you or play around too much in X7. I did notice the selection tool, though; that's definitely a plus in X7's favor. I also noticed it runs a bit faster. I do like how they added color palette options in the Color section of Material Properties; that's pretty cool.
Your extraction of the starfish looks really good! I keep trying to play around in Object Extractor, but I can never get it right. Maybe I'm blowing it up too much or something, because the edges always end up being not smooth. I have an easier time using the Background Eraser tool.
Thank you!
Sorry about the migraines they are horrible. My dad always had cluster migraines, I remember he would be hurting so bad he would sit with his head in his hands bent over crying.
I used the selection tool and get it as close as I can, and then went back in with the eraser tool. You can Cut text from your photos now which I don't think you could do before either, which is kind of cool. I played with the warp a little bit, that is pretty cool, had never used it
I know exactly what your dad experienced. I'm so lucky, I get all the varieties of migraines. Been getting them since I was 4 years old, at least that's the first one I can remember. I have a prescription, but it doesn't always work.
I'm taking my dogs out running in a bit, so I'll get those files in order after dinner.
Previous versions didn't have a tool to cut-out text from photos. You also could do it by typing text over a photo on a different layer, then using the magic wand outside the text (You need to click the holes in letters too, such as the triangle in A, by holding down the shift key and left clicking.), invert selection, delete key, smooth it a little, right click the photo layer and click on promote selection.
Example using the method I described of a picture my sister took in Cape Cod:
That looks neat, Vidia... I'm on PSP X6. I haven't ventured to X7 yet because of a couple bugs I read about, plus I didn't like that they changed the materials (color) palette so much. It seems like every time I start to get comfortable with something, they drastically change it. (so not nice, Corel!) *sigh* It is nice seeing a few more people in here that use Paint Shop Pro though.
Thanks! That's the old school method. I didn't do anything else (bevel or glass) to it, just left it "as is" for the example. I'll redo it in the morning and put it up in my freebie thread as word art. Plus, the example is pretty small; I resized the photo.
I downloaded the X7 trial the other day, but I haven't found any bugs with it so far. The new material/color palette does take some getting used to, though I do like the added zings to it. The last version I purchased was X5. I was going to get X6, but by the time I was ready to buy it, I read about X7 coming out a month later. Obviously I never bought X7. lol
I always think I'm the only one left on the planet who still uses PSP. So, yep, I agree it's nice to see other people use it besides me.
Nooo ladies, you're not alone
I'm on PSP x6 too!
Old school version was a lot more work than the new one lol...But a very cool feature. I have had seven since it became available and have not had any problems with it. It is nice to be able to make and save your own palettes easily. Mostly everything is in the same places, they just seem to work better.
And here comes another PSP user.
I remade the sandbar wordart with X7's cutout tool, adding some extras to it while leaving one plain. Okay, that method is much easier and quicker! lol I also like how it uses a script to make the final image transparent without dead-space around the text. Corel deserves a thumbs-up for that improvement.
X7 definitely runs faster. X5 is slow on my 64-bit computer; it drives me nuts. The only thing that still takes awhile to load is the text tool, but that's because I am a font hoarder.
One of the bugs I was talking about earlier was how they broke the drag & drop feature. I use that option so much, that I didn't dare upgrade. Apparently they just released a service pack correcting issues like that (and others). So now I'm having a bit of buyer's remorse. I could've upgraded from X6 Ultimate to X7 Ultimate for $39.99 back in December. It was a huge deal they were offering. Oh well. I, too, love a lot of the new features I've heard X7 has (like the magic fill, for example), but the one thing I was very leery about was their new materials palette. I think it would drive me crazy, and I got the impression that not all the same functionality is there too, which would bum me out. I'm only just starting to get comfortable with X6 - I'm not ready for big changes like that.
Can't wait to see how your new sandbar project turned out, Vidia...
I've never used drag & drop before; that feature is entirely not for me. I don't know, it just never was appealing. The upgrade is currently $43.99 (Last day is today!), which includes FastFlick and Creative Effects (It's showing Script effects on the site.) bundle for free. I don't think I can upgrade; last I knew, you had to have the immediate previous version to do that. So if I decide to buy X7 today, it'll be $15 more, which really isn't that bad. I haven't tested magic fill yet. The new materials palette is actually good. In the short time I've had the trial, I've already gotten used to the difference. They usually have another sale around Valentine's Day, too, if you don't want to buy it today.
I have the Ultimate version, which is bit more expensive, but I liked the extra options... I never really paid attention to their sales cycles, so that's good to know - thanks. I'll check that out then.
Yep, I've always gotten the Ultimate versions, too. A few more dollars isn't going to break the bank, not when it includes extras. I just wish PSP would incorporate something similar to PS styles. I, personally, think that's the one feature many people want. Sales usually happen after Jan 1, Valentine's Day, Black Friday, Christmas, and Memorial Day, then randomly throughout the rest of the year. At least that's what I've noticed over the years.
yeah i'm very curious about those styles too! It looks amazing. Wish they would add that to psp too!
I'm not really sure, but I think PS styles are similar to that old plug-in by Flaming Pear called SuperBlade Pro. I see similar-looking styles to the ones I used to make in SBP.
