Size of fonts and photos

I see so many wonderful layouts with multiple pictures that are large enough that you can see then really well, and font sizes that are easy to read. When I do layouts with more then one or two pictures, it seems that I have to make the pictures really small just to fit them and then of course you cant really see the picture.... I don't know why the difference... any thoughts?

You could try scraplifing a page you like. Just download a copy of the layout, bring it into your software program, resize the layout to your canvas size (12x12 usually) and then create photo spaces based on the exact dimensions from the layout you admire. That should help you get an idea for sizing.

Personally, especially with fonts, I find that mine are often too big when I get them printed smiley It is a challenge to get things right between screen and print. I usually don't go above size 12 (unless the font is particularly small). Of course, if you have trouble with your eyes, you may prefer something different!

Thanks Marisa, I will try it!

I don't know why that happens... but I LOVE big pics and big font sizes. If I am lucky enough to live a long life and am in a nursing home, with nothing but my scrapbooks, I want to be able to read without another person or a magnifying glass for help and I want the pics so big that I can really remember the moment, to feel it again!! Just wanted to share, and I have printed some of mine and they look GREAT! Good luck!!!

Linda .. what resolution are you working at? .... if it's a smaller resolution that may be part of the issue ... not having a file to actually look at makes it hard to guess .. Marisa's idea of a scrap lift is a good one ... once you have done a few it will be easier to work on your own.

I have no idea what resolution I am working at nor do I have any idea where to find it but I will look... any idea what it SHOULD be?

I hear that Varia! I Truly do!

smiley I always think about that when I see the pages with the huge paper and one tiny pic. I could never do those. LOL

For resolution, if you're planning to print 300 DPI is standard. For the web and screen 72 DPI is usual. What program are you working with?

Just the My Memories Suite...

Linda, your program sounds similar to mine, I use Scrapbook Max and love it!! If your program has a forum go there. That is the best place to learn about your program. Sometimes it sucks using something different than the crowd, but I LOVE mine and would not trade the ease for anything in the world. Anyway best of luck and don't forget there should be a user manual or something that explains all the features and stuff. (in mine it's under the help tab) Also when you create or save a layout that is when it should ask you what res you want. HUGS!

Thanks Varia! I just looked at the program you use and they have a 30 day free trial, so I think I will give it a try too!

Your so welcome!! I love it, its super easy, enjoy!!!!

Varia, I just downloaded the free trial and have been playing with it... IT IS WAY COOL! I will be making my first pages with it SOON! Thanks again!

OH Linda you are SO welcome!!!!! I was hooked right off the bat, cause it is WAY COOL! smiley ENJOY!!! I can't wait to see your pages!! Also I'm here if you have questions I will try to help smiley Have fun!!

It looks like it will be at least 30 days before I share anything I make with that program, with the free trial it puts a banner across the bottom of the page that says it was made with the trial version and to remove the banner you have to buy it. Ok so that gives me 30 days to see if I like it enough to buy it, maybe in 30 days, I will be sharing loads of pages!

Oh well that sucks, but i understand why they do that. HAVE FUN with it!!!
