Summer plans?

I just got back from a somewhat spontaneous/epic road trip around the USA. Looking forward to a relaxing month at the coast, and lots of family coming into town. We'll be a full house here for sure!

Our garden really did it's thing while we were away. It was spring when we left and now summer is here for sure, although today is lovely and cool and cloudy, a good welcome back to Oregon.

What are you up to this summer? Any must read books, or movies/tv you're looking forward to catching?

Hubby and I are getting ready to remodel our home. He has a disease that will eventually put him in a wheelchair, so we are making it handicapped accessible and hope to have it completed before winter.
On a personal level, I am trying to finish up my poems and water colors to e-publish a book of both. And of course I am constantly cleaning out my stash, re-organizing my crafting supplies. Someday, I'll discover a system that works for me.
Someday...

I am hoping to relax some this summer, but so far it is shaping up to be pretty busy. I will be taking my son to different activities to keep him busy. I will also have to spend some time planning my son's school year before school starts again in August. I homeschool him and this will be his first year of highschool. I hope I have some time to read, color, do Bible study, learn how to use my Silhouette and design some stickers.

Definitely trying to read more books, journal and adventure more. Hopefully some camping trips! My brother just got married on Saturday so that was a pretty awesome kick off to summer! My hubs and I have recently begun exploring the lakes/ponds near our apartment and doing some trail walking and it's been very rewarding in multiple ways. Last summer we didn't do much so this summer we're trying to do more, especially since we start new classes again at the end of August.

Summer's coming only in a few months..I'm sooo happy it's Winter now!

Taking a big family trip to Nashville (us + both sets of parents). It's one of our favorite cities to visit. Hubby is waiting to hear back from a couple of job interviews....it's quite possible we'll be moving cross-country at the end of the summer! smiley

Currently i can't make holiday-plans, unfortunately my mum is ill and she needs me - perhaps later on we go away together...

@Amanda: What do you do in Nashville. We are always visiting my parents in Memphis, and maybe one of these days we'll branch out to a new city.

A lot of our favorite places revolve around food. smiley

We love Puckett's. They have two locations, one downtown and one in Franklin. The food is amazing, and we usually try to go on nights where they have live music. There's an ice cream place on Broadway, called Mike's Ice Cream. We've done all the "touristy" stuff - Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman, etc - the only one we make time for every time we're in town is The Bluebird Cafe. Doesn't even matter who's playing - it's just an amazing experience. We've also been known to plan trips around someone playing at the Ryman. Our favorite concert venue anywhere. Our other favorite thing to do is just hang out on Broadway at night. It's pretty similar to Beale St - All the bars have huge open windows, so you can hear the music as you walk down the street.

It's neat city, with a fun atmosphere.

It's way too hot here on the Gulf Coast for us to even want to think about going anywhere. We usually wait until October to go somewhere for our anniversary when it's cooler and less people are traveling. This heat makes me lethargic.

We virtually have no Spring or Fall to speak of. We have about 8-9 months of Summer, and 3-4 months of Winter. A friend told me this week that she can't wait for Fall, and I told her that I hope she intensely enjoys all 3 days of it! smiley

My plans this summer are pretty simple: stay inside, avoid the sun and heat, design, play games on the net, and try to avoid having major chronic illness flareups... it seems, though, that I'm having to add more shoulder rehab into the schedule, so I may not be able to avoid as much sun and heat as I'd like.

Due to health issues, summer plans have been nonexistent. The only summer activity I've been doing is BBQ'ing. I'm with Holly: Avoid the sun and heat; 3 months of aqua therapy, and now I'm going to regular physical therapy 3 days a week. Not that any of it is actually helping. smiley But, I'm going through the motions to satisfy my doctor's therapy order. I might go to Cape Cod next month, though only if I think my spine can survive the 3-hour road trip. We'll see....

staying cool... I Know what it feels like for a prized pig at a bubba-1

In August I will be going up to stay on a cabin on a lake in the moutains. I am so excited. Places like that are my happy place and bring me lots of relaxation. I will be going with my son, fiance and his mom and cannot wait to kayak and lay out on the dock and watch the meteor shower that is in August.

I need this vacation more than anything right now to relax and recharge.

Haven't been here much since my hospitalization end of February - since then my health has been like one big rollercoaster ride. I am doing better, but in other ways I'm not (esp. flexibility & mobility-wise). As a result it's limited my activities greatly. I had hoped to do a bit of traveling this summer - go back to Maine &/or Cape Cod for a visit - go sight seeing & camp - but it's just not realistic right now. And we've had lots of storm damage the last week or so - have a LOT of damage (trees down, electronics, trees on our garage & one THROUGH the garage roof) - so we've been dealing with that & the insurance adjuster @ our homeowner's insurance group. Fun, fun, fun (NOT). This week I'll be getting a break as my youngest is off to camp for a week. It will feel so weird because I haven't had any quiet in the house since school got out for summer. LOL I hope you all have been having a nice summer... smiley

@Lizanne: Hope things work out with insurance, that's never fun to deal with. And enjoy your quiet week!

Been busy with health, I'm not recouping after major events very well. Have had lots of trips from South Central MO, back to IN, trying to sell house...those who pray, please pray we get a good price soon. Thought we had buyers for it, but they dragged it out, wanted repairs done, thought we had them done, but the contractor we hired took us and though contracted to do the job to pass inspection, didnt. But we really think that the buyers couldn't get financing they wanted as they were putting nothing down. Anyways we've got more work to have done now, and lost two interested buyers because of the delays, all quiet now. Many trips to TX to help care for Motherinlaw and then her passing, and summer church activities, children's camp and VBS back to back weeks!

Son is coming home in a bit for a short visit, and we get to hear about and see photos of his mission trip to South Africa earlier this summer! Want to get them scrapped for him! It should be fun! Want to get back into designing and creating some kits or blog trains as well. Plus I'd like to do some more GIMP or Inkscape tutorials.

Goal to is to finish up reading the Bible before school starts here, cause that will just be another type of busy!

Sadly we seem to be living some of the same problems (also in the same area - although I've never actually been to any of the cape cod beaches!). I spent over 2 years trying to convince my doctor that my back problems were not just muscular. Finally after another visit to the ER, and switching orthopedic doctors they gave me my MRI. Which of course just showed them what I knew all along. Now it's just getting my insurance to approve of cortisone injections and seeing if they are willing to do anything else to help. I will be taking a 2/3 hour trip up to the lakes region of NH in a few weeks.

I am headed to Kingston, Tennessee (from Oregon) for a yearly "sister's vacation". The three of us get together from different parts of the country and have a week of visits and adventure. We pick different parts of the country to meet every year, but this year we are going to stay at my sister's house in TN and have a relaxing visit to just blend together as family.

@Sunny: We also went from Oregon to Tennessee this summer! I hear it's hot there right now smiley

I tend to stay inside where it is cool. Today the high is supposed to be only 89 and that is fantastic! if we aren't on the deck, which is on the south side of the house and in full, hot sun. It's been in the high 90s and low 100s. We DID go up to Greer's Ferry lake with our neighbor last week, about 45 minutes from here. Hubby fished while Diane and I swam in the swimming area of the lake in that park. Hubby nearly passed out from the heat and Diane and I were juuuust fine.

I am about to start sanding and repairing walls and wood work and cupboards for painting, then laying new vinyl plank flooring. We did laminate several years ago, not a good idea with all the critters we have. Vinyl, yes! Looking around, we need to paint the living room and front room, too. I like the colors we have on the walls now, but it is just too dark in these rooms because we have SHADE in the front yard, thank goodness.

I went to Illinois for a visit with our kids and other kin and friends in May and came home with STUFF for paper crafting, which I have again been doing since, and enjoying it! I've also started on a digital wedding album for my nephew and his new bride. I've also been stalling and procrastinating on doing any of it, a lot. smiley

We are taking a 2 week RV trip to visit some national parks. This will be our first RV trip so we are very excited (and nervous).
