swatches

I've picked up a few swatches in kits. Not quite sure what to do with them. I'm thinking they are colors that go together that you can use to color your elements if you want to change colors???

Here is a great topic using swatches in Photoshop:
Photoshop Help /Customizing color pickers and swatches
http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/customizing-color-pickers-swatches.html

If there is a predominate color in my photos that I'm using in a layout or a color I want to highlight, I'll use Adobe Kuler to find a color palette that harmonizes well with my photos and then download the swatches, load them into photoshop and use them to re-color items or find a kit I already have with similar colors.

thanks

Tammy, some designers include the swatches they used to make the kit on it, in case you want to recolor something else to match the kit.

I typically do them to match my photos as someone else mentioned. But I love collecting them on my pinterest boards mainly for inspiration (just to ooooo and ahhhh over) smiley or for layouts without photos or b&w photos.

I always try to include a color swatch and color palette in the designs I offer for download because I myself like to add a lot of brushwork, digital stamps, and so on to my pages, things that are very easily recolored (you just pick the color for a brush and voila!), and for that I'm always appreciative of having available the original colors the designer used to make the kit.

thanks everyone for the good help

I agree with Lórien, I love it when I get swatches of the color palette the designer used in case I want to recolor other kit items or make additional things myself to match.
