Ohhhh...Holly! I got goosebumps reading that...I remember well waiting for those calls! Thanks for the link...

thank you for sharing your time and talent - love that compass!

Got it smiley Thank you for sharing.

Just caught up on this thread! Thank you so much!

@Holly Thanks for the info on the journal cards; that will come in handy in the future. smiley Since I don't use them, I was totally clueless and entirely relied upon Melo's cards from the blog train. The damask paper is from Shutterstock; I just added a bit more texture to it than it already had. Most of the flower papers I make are also from Shutterstock that I add texture to ...

And thanks for the offer, but I have 57GBs of military and patriotic stuff. lol Lots of friends and family (including ex-boyfriends) were/are in the military.

@Nina I've just gotten over the flu, so I don't know if I'll have time to make a Memorial Day kit. We'll see what happens over the weekend if I can come up with something worthy of posting. lol But, yeah, I've seen some of Marisa's older uploads that Holly spoke of; Marisa's done all of the military branches in the past.

@Jennifer I haven't forgotten; I just keep getting sidetracked. lol I'll try to finish up the current multiple list one over the weekend.

@Everyone else Thank you SO very much for all your kind words! I really appreciate them and that people enjoy my designs and can use them. smiley

Fair enough, Vidia. I haven't done too much with scrapping my son's Navy stuff--mostly basic/advanced training so far, as he's on his first deployment atm. I know I'll be doing pages for his various ports that he's been in this trip, and the calls home, but that's about it.

@Holly Tell him I said "thank you for serving!" With Memorial Day around the corner and Independence Day coming up, this is the time of year to snag patriotic and military kits.

@Everyone I'm taking part in the latest Designer Challenge for Music is My Life mini-kit. I should be done with it later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Vidia, I hope you feel better...don't rush with anything for me, I was just thinking that any military digis in the future would be fantastic as they are hard to find...still have to see what Marissa has. Take care of yourself...

Oh, I'm feeling much better now! Got out and walked the dogs; the fresh air did me a lot of good. I'll probably bang a Memorial Day kit out tomorrow and Sunday. smiley I'm almost done with the designer challenge one; all that's left is the 10 pieces of word art.

Here is my designer challenge Music Is My Life kit:

As you can see, I went old-school rock and roll with this kit. I'm an 80s teen, so I grew up listening to classic rock from the 60s and 70s, along with 80s rock. (Did you know that 80s rock is now called classic rock? When did that happen, and why wasn't I informed? lol) I used a stainless steel guitar pick and the record to make a flower. I also used a Fender guitar to make a frame. Some of the word strips can be formed to create rock song titles, such as "Old Time Rock and Roll" by Bob Seger and "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett.

Hope you all like it! smiley

Great kit ... it's like a classic rock timeline! (I lived all those decades your mentioned!)

Thank you, Poki! My brothers are around 15 years older than me (I was born in '72), so they heavily influenced my musical tastes. Back in the day is when music was good. Honestly, I can't stand a lot of the music released nowadays, especially rock; I'd rather throw on Bob Seger than listen to [insert any 2010s rock band here].

Love the Music Is My Life kit! Great job!

You did an awesome job on the music kit Vidia. I too was in all those decades and I agree with you that most of today's music doesn't stand up to the olden days!

Nice kit, thank you

Thanks, ladies! smiley Have fun with it!

@Debbie Yes, it's very rare I like any rock songs that come out nowadays. I also listen to country, so it's pretty much a given I like it all. There are a few pop songs I like, too. But, rock music certainly isn't the same; bands just aren't as talented as they used to be ...

I came back to download your newest kit!

Well, I became exceedingly lazy this past weekend. I didn't do anything besides take the dogs out running and catch up on a bunch of movies and binge-watch a few seasons of TV shows that were recently released on DVD. Remind me NOT to watch the next Fifty Shades movie; that was one of the worst movies I've ever had the unpleasantness of watching; the dialogue was atrociously elementary; it was as though a second-grader wrote it. Why did I ever force myself to watch it in its entirety? (shakes my head) Oh yeah, because I smiley Jamie Dornan and his sexy Irish accent, that's why. LOL That man is so gorgeous. I then hit up a local Memorial Day parade yesterday. So ... a Memorial Day kit was not made.

I have a doctor's appointment later this afternoon (getting results of the sleep study test; must be bad news since he wants to see me; here's hoping I don't have sleep apnea!), but I'll try to come up with something to make up for a lack of the Memorial Day kit.

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, full of rest and relaxation! So many mornings now I don't want to get up and go to work, I would love to stay home, but not gonna happen...at least not until I retire. I hope you have good news and not have sleep apnea. I have it and some nights I hate my machine smiley ...Take care smiley

Yep, the weekend was restful, but now I don't want to fall asleep. LOL I was right: Bad news. I guess I stop breathing, on average, 10 times an hour, which is seriously scary. I also snore like a chainsaw (LOL) and my arms and legs move quite a lot. I have to go to an overnight sleep study next month. I honestly have never noticed any of this occurring. I mean, there have been times, in the past year, I've suddenly woken up feeling, um ... I suppose startled is a good way to describe it, but I never thought anything was wrong--I just figured I was waking up from a very vivid dream. That machine is uncomfortable, isn't it? smiley

Anyway, I started working on a kit; I should have it finished some time tomorrow.

Ohhh...I'm sorry 'bout the bad news...but the good news is that once you start using it, you will start to have more energy. You don't realize how much sleep you have actually lost since it started, and your body can catch up eventually on it's missing sleep (hope that made sense!) So then, with all that extra energy, you will be able to make more beautiful pages and 'awesome' kits!!!! smiley

Sorry to hear it, Vidia. On the plus side, now you know what's going on and they can work on figuring out how to compensate for it so you're not exhausted all the time.

I ended up taking a big chunk of the weekend and all of Monday off, too. Don't beat yourself up about doing what you need to do to take care of yourself mentally and physically. If you're too sick to do anything, you're not going to be doing yourself any favors, so avoid that first!! I got back to painting stuff for the June blog train yesterday, and then lost an hour's worth of work last night on a detailed element (even though I'd been saving regularly) because the open file got corrupted when the power cut out due to a storm. At least I'd only been working on it for an hour rather than the 15 or so hours I put in painting the horse-drawn carriage. (I know 15 hours is a long time, but it's one of a few super-detailed elements I want to be spectacular and maybe to sell in an uncolored version at some future point.) I'd have seriously cried if the carriage painting had gotten corrupted before being exported to Photoshop.

I have a little more time than I'd planned this week due to my own overnight sleep study getting rescheduled--something about one of their techs needing urgent surgery. So I have an extra night to finish it up now. smiley I'll still make it before the first, and not have to worry about that sleep study till mid-June. Hopefully my exhaustion's just another symptom of my other health issues and not a sign of apnea, but all I can do for now is wait and see what shows up.

Ladies, I am so sorry to hear of your sleep problems. I hope all goes well and you can recover/heal as you get the help you need. Good luck in all you do. My goodness Holly! What a commitment to spent so much time. Thank you for all you ladies do! May the Lord bless you.

I am such a rock chic Vidia! I love this latest kit! Thank you so much for sharing it ~M x

@Nina That's what the doctor was saying: That I'll feel more refreshed and energized. I don't have the machine yet; he wants me to go to the sleep study first before we take it any further. I didn't sleep the other night at all (I ended up sleeping all day yesterday instead); I was so paranoid to fall asleep. LOL

@Holly I've a bad habit of not taking care of myself first before others and "stuff." OMG, I've had that happen to me, too. You're sitting there, working on something for hours, and next thing you know the power goes out, even for a split second, and you lose it all. I still haven't come up with any elements for the June blog train, just the 4 papers. I'll probably just end up throwing together a few basic elements to make it a super-mini-kit. LOL So your doctor thinks you have sleep apnea, too? Good luck with your study! smiley

@Debbie Yep, I've noticed Holly goes crazy-painting-mode. LOL But, she's really good at it, so it's worth just seeing what she comes up with.

@Meredith Me too! smiley I'm a total 80s rock chick. Thank you, and you're welcome! Have fun with it!

The kit I came up with is pretty darn bright, neon-like. Put on a pair of sunglasses before you look at it. LOL I did a few "clippings" with two papers and a gradient: a flower, the doily, and I used a gradient on the string so it's multicolored. The font I used for "this" and "look" is called Grenouille and can be found here if you want to coordinate. It's all in one zip file (44MB).

Cute kit, Vidia. Thanks!

Hi, Vidia

I just wanted to offer my support regarding the apnea and limb movement problems. I was diagnosed with apnea, RLS and PLMD several years ago. It definitely takes time to get used to the machine but once you find the correct settings and mask, it will become easier.

Please insist that the durable medical equipment provider gives and APAP, not just a CPAP (automatic vs. continuous air pressure). This made a world of difference for me. DMEs are paid the same by insurance for providing the CPAP, even though it's a less expensive machine for them to stock. Some less scrupulous providers will try to unload the cheapest possible machine on you at the expense of your comfort and effective therapy, especially if their reps are not respiratory therapists. I also found it very important to have a machine with data that I could download to my computer so that I could monitor my progress without relying solely on doctors or a medical equipment providers. Your doctor may need to specify "machine of patient's choice" on your prescription.

The CPAPtalk forums helped me immensely, I could have easily given up without all of the information there. It was SO overwhelming at times but so important to stick with it. My kids are trying to get used to sleeping with machines now. I truly believe that being diagnosed young will make a big difference in their future health.

Anyway, thank you for sharing your wonderful graphics. I made a pumpkin to use in the layout I posted to the gallery today. Here is a pic of the pumpkin!

Eh, techincal problems, heh. Here is the URL.

Thank you Vidia for the Bright Blooms kit. It is very bright and colorful. I hope you get things squared away soon with your health. Health is nothing to mess with!
